Yet another h22 Vs 3.0 thread

Now for the record I think I'm gonna lose. A friend from work has a Civic hatchback with an H22 with i/h/e. He has no cat (no resonator either it's loud as balls) and no AC (and he lives in FL and this is his daily driver) and he has a 5 speed manual tranny. I think his car weighs about 1000lbs less than the 3.0.
Now I have:
V2 intake
XS headers
UR pulley
hi-flow cat
magnaflow exhaust with 22" res with custom 2.25 piping
NGK iridiums
Tranny cooler
V-6-P grounding kit hopefully arrives next week and I can get that installed (i'm not expecting much from the grounding kit).

I think I'm gonna need all the help I can get that's why I'm listing everything.
So how bad do you think I'm gonna lose by? Or do you think I might win? Also he just got a street racing ticket over the weekend so he ain't racing anytime soon, which might give me time to get some cams installed with a Unichip and get it tuned, even then I still think I'm gonna lose. What do you guys think?

I'll keep everyone updated. He's actually under the impression that I might win, but then he's telling me stories about him racing a new 350z and winning. My car can't beat a 350z can it? I don't think it could. It almost went down last night because we were both leaving work at the same time but that's when he mentioned that he had got the ticket and now has to go to court. He got his car towed and everything. I currently don't have the UR pulley installed I just got it in the mail about 90mins ago but hopefully this weekend.

without nitrous he's got you. the weight difference is what'll kill you.

on a side note, did the XS headers bolt right up without modification. I'm thinking abotu getting some since my current headers have an exhaust leak and they're chopped up so I'm probably losing some power.

the way the civic would most likely be affected, is by handling. generally, drag/straight line racing should be no problem.

Most h22 eg's over here run 13's with bolt ons like I/H/E. You'll lose.

If you want your car to run a bit better, get some platnium plugs. I dont know why you have iridiums since you're NA and are not using nitrous or FI. Stick with hotter plugs. Whats the heat range on your iridiums?

I wasn't lying. Most of them can run 13's like I said. But not ALL of them. Leave plenty of room for driver error from a nub.

actually my XS headers did bolt on fine, execpt for one thing which I haven't seen anyone else have to do. I got them installed for me and the mechanic said that when he went to reattach the center support beam on the bottom that there was no way if was gonna fit witout modification so what he did was cut out probably about a 4 inch long and 1/2 inch wide strip out of the center beam and then smoothed off the edges to make it look real nice, it looks OEM. I've never heard of this needing to be done maybe everyone else just didn't reinstall the support beam, I don't know. But the guy was proud of his work and he seemed to enjoy working on my car (I've never seen that from a mechanic) he just kept saying nice things about my car. I'd take a pic of what he did if I had an air lift. Maybe if I remember I'll take a pic while I'm getting my crank pulley installed.

I know they say a tenth of a second for every 100lbs so everything else being equal he should beat me by a second in the 1/4 mi. Oh and he's got 17inch Gram Lights also that probably helps just a little, but I still got A/C and leather seats FTW. Yeah he rides around with the windows down all the time, and remember he's running cat back with no resonator. I don't know how he stays cool even with the windows down and a 60mph wind going in your car it's still a hot, humid wind it's not cooling at all, it sux.

even if he couldnt drive, I'd still put my money on him. It's about 4 cars lengths for every second that your faster (rough estimate).

Agreed. There is no way in chance you'll win unless he has mechanical problems (or any other worst case scenario for that matter).

if he powerbrakes and the bubble doesn't catch traction,he might stand a shot, but my guess even with a good jump and his mods he'll still get hawked down......

but you can take care of handling with proper suspension tuning.

I guessing you guys havent seen the yellow crx that is supercharged with a k20 that handles nicely in touge battle of america. Any car can pretty much take turns with the prpper tuning in suspension like insoyne said.
