WW-style Fiberglass lips?

I'm gonna get a friend to make fiberglass WW front lips for the 1st gen CL, just wondering how much interest there is for these.. it will probably be $140-150 each. LET ME KNOW by posting, thanks.

no unless it extends lower than the ww lip cuz a lip that is only 1/2 inch lower isnt a lip.. its a cover

errr...Fiberglass in the front?? IMO....your just settin yourself up for the day that you'll hit a animal, road kill, curb...etc...and that fiberglass lip is gonna snap! Now, i'd say fiberglass for the rear lip might be ok...but I woudnt use fiberglass on the front. But again...thats just me.

would it look identical to the urathane one? i would buy for 100 and shipping is included.

also would it be ready for paint (gel coated) or pre painted?

The front bumper was distroyed by an animal that came runnin out into the road one night. (he coudlnt avoid it) and his rear fiberglass bumper caught soo much water in a huge downpore rain storm, it ripped the rear bumper off. .....Yes, i realise were talking about lips here...not actualy full size bumpers...but im be tooo afarid of fiberglass in the front. Hell, i know if mine was fiberglass now, the thing would be distroyed because im 2.25" lower and my WW lip scrapes (underneith it) sometimes when i cant avoid HUGE dips...etc. Since im soo low and I scrape sometimes...i know if my front was fiberglass...the thing would be distroyed right now.

yea but you paying for urithane, thats the problem, and if your friend is going to make it great but be careful ww doesnt go after him for copywrite laws becuase you are technically selling a product they designed. Change the kit 10% and the laws do not apply. Thats what im doing with my kit on the alero that im making...

hey guys, i'm the friend kenny is talking about. i'm also friends with george, but lets not talk about that since he's been banned from this forum for being an idiot.

bottom line is, 20-30 lips will be made in fiberglass WW-style, not a direct copy. i can definitely make the front and sides longer to match the aftermarket sides if it is possible. price is $140-150 around that. it is about 2x cheaper than WW lip so keep that in mind before you make random comments *cough* silvercl *cough*.

i was brought here because i have heard of everyone wanting to get WW lips, but always complained of the high-price. $300 for a lip isnt exactly my cup of tea either. if you don't want fiberglass, i'll see what my contacts can do about making a similar lip in carbon fiber or maybe even polyurethane/abs (which i doubt since they're focus is CF and fiberglass).

and yes, mods, i WILL be paying to become a vendor before i make ANY sales so please keep this here for interest only. thanks guys.

wont FB have fitment problems? always hear that the FB body kits rarely fit right, so doing a lip maybe tricky.

Ok here I'll ask the questions everybody wants answered to make his life simple since i kow making fiberglass body panels is a pain in the balls.

#1 - fitment issue is everybodies biggest fear, YES fiberglas doesnt fit right unless you make a mold off your car have it fitted, remove it and then have a real fiberglass company make a reverse fiberglass mold to duplicate it and be a 2nd hand shipper on it. If this isnt your process what is yours? This is what im doing for my full bumper bodykit im making so if you need a fiberglass company let me know.

#2 What is your exact process of molding this and what type of gel coating or top layer are you putting on it to protect it from cracking? What type of back coating? How many layers of fiberglass and what type of bondo are you using? Also are you suing tiger hair or kitty hair?

#3 What other fiberglass projects have you done and do you have picture examples? Do you plan on using a ww kit to mold from or are you making this fresh? Also whats to guarantee that your not gonna run with the cash? Alot of people have been burned online with group buys and especially if you get 2-3k in cash from these this will be a decent payday for you.

I will get those specific questions directed to the manufacturer and have an answer for you asap!

Is there any interest for CF lips? I'm visiting the factory in the next few weeks and will be hoping to get 20 order quotes from 3 different manufacturers. I won't actually be bringing the parts, just pictures and calculations.
