WTF! F'n mechanics

Ok so drove the car home, about all of half a mile, slow speeds... no more than 30 mph. No problems. Waited until wife got home to test it out. So I step on it, and at just before 4000 rpms, it starts jerking like its redlining or some shit. Consistently... in every gear. Whats the deal? I'm thinking V-tech malfunction , right? Please help I'm taking it back tonight so they can fix it tommorrow. they obviously didnt test it out-

Top off your oil... That will fix your problem. Has nothing to do with the mechanic.

I took it back to the shop..... so, top off the oil? That's it? Cause I checked it and it was at least a quart low, barely reading on hte dipstick. I just wanted to test drive it before I did anything. Do you think hte mechanic will figure that out, or should I drop them a hint? When I pickep up the car a printout for daignosing V-tec malfunctions for a 1998 2.3 motor was still sitting on the seat-

No. Dont take it back to the mechanic... Just put a quart of oil in it and call it a day. You would be wasting your time as well as your mechanics.

thanks for the suggestions, but I had already taken it back. He topped off the oil and that wasnt the problem. He thinks it's a part for hte V-tec that is not working properly, and is ordering the part.
