Wrecked the CL..fell in love with a GM :-) btw seriously 56k ppl its 2008 lol

Hey guys its been a while so i decided to pop back in. You might remember my CL i wrecked within 4 months of having it (Turned out the SOB who sold it to me totalled it and never got the frame damage fixed) and after selling it for $1400 i bought myself a supercharged 98 Buick regal GS.

I must say after getting used to 250hp and almost 300lbs of torque whenever i want i dont know how i survived living off the 145hp 2.2. Off the line this car is a MONSTER but ones it hits about 90 it kinda falls off (2 valve ohv iron 3.8). The only things i miss about the cl is the 5speed, fuel economy, sunroof and the fact people took me serious when i try racing em lol Only difference is now i can actually win some.

Here are some pics, had the car for about 2 months and did the regular: tint/system/rims/intake/exhaust/HIDS/grill and this spring the performance stuff comes in. 14.6 at 97mph isnt a bad start for a ol buick lol

makes it that much better kicking all these acura/hondas/nissans/bmws/mercedes/audis asses lol a pretty popular saying on the regal forum is "its not your everyday buick" with less then $1000 I'll have this thing running consistant mid 13s while riding like a cadillac and getting as much attention as a buick (maybe a lil more because of the rims lol)

Acuras beaten...RSX-S, TL-S, late 2000s 3.5RL and a RDX. Not bashing Acuras I'm just giving the old buick some credit where its due lol

18" Veloche Verzio that retail for 1300 that i got from a good friend for exchange of a older garmin gps i had laying around. I'm thinking about paiting the faces black because theyre good looking from 5 feet away but once you get closer you can see that the inside of the wheel is completely eaten from salt plus i think black would just look sexier lol

Not too shabby. You have NO trunkspace w/that sub though. I'm not a big fan of alla that bump in the trunk. They are fast lil fuckers tho, and easy to make faster.

Actually I only got crap from my friends for having the CL with a intake lol

Other then "Buick" theres not much to say negative about it.

BTW I'm as much a audiophile (mobile installer at tweeter) as i am a car enthusiast which is why the trunk setup is a little extreme. I have 400rms to the speakers and 1600rms to the sub so its amazingly balanced, not to mention seriously loud lol

haha wow a buick. I mean if it was like a Grand National nothing wrong with a buick but those buick's. no worries thou, atleast your happy with it...

if u think the buick is quick, just think how fast a H22 turbo'ed CL would have been like, hehe

Alright heres a quick history lesson for you guys.

The Grand National (GN) and the ultimate version (GNX) was the performance model of the Regal line with a boosted 3800 (turbo) and when it was released was the quickest american sedan (2 door but built on 4 door chasis) with a 4.7 0-60mph with a 13.2 at 104 mph. Everybody laughed at a fast buick but we all know how that turned out

When the regal was designed in 98 it was also released with a performance model (GS) with a boosted 3800 (now supercharged) and until 2003 was the quickest 4door american car in history with a 14.6 at 97mph.

It might be a buick but the numbers speak for themselves

I think a automatic 1998 Buick with a 20 yr old engine design beating completely new TL-S and CL-S an accomplishment. Nothing like blowing the doors off tuners in my buick with portholes and chrome wheels. For the price of boosting most acuras the buick could be made to outperform, outbrake, out handle and outrun that same car.

Im used to alot of people hating on the buick part but come spring/summer time im going hunting for em

no, its pethetic. its supercharged and puts down the same power as a NA car. they dyno in at what 210whp/240wtq stock? thats pretty much what a CL puts down NA. you would think after 20 years of R&D they'd figure out how to do it right....

Defintly will, Im making a fenderwell intake, ordering a 3" dp, and then gettin it tuned to run a 3.4inch pulley (stock is 3.8) Should break me into the 13s for under 500 or so bucks. Once that gets old ill do the intercooler, rockers, smaller pulley, injectors and the endless other mods. I love having boosted power. The turbo l28et and t5 trans found their way into the datsun so that should hit the road by summer also.

line up with a Regal GS and tell me if they did it right They didnt go crazy with hp stock because for most 240/280 is more then enough. Theres a reason they threw on a huge 3.8" pulley and an intake and exhaust so restrictive/quite theyve been dynod to free up 30+ hp by them selves, add that with 30-40 from a smaller pulley and tune and your lookin at 300+hp from a better breathing stock motor. BTW that power kicks in from off idle to redline instead of vtec that makes the car pathetic under a certain rpm. Still like acuras for other reasons but for performance the regal takes it.

Oh and the $2,000 turbo kit gurantees 12s off the bat.

Im actually in the process of trying to get my hands on a couple of JBL 1500.1 to strap to that sub along and with my discount i could get any focal or JL stuff 65% off. I thought 2000rms would be enough but Im now finding that the bass isnt as powerful as it used to be. Im going broke so i might just have to settle on this lol

Dont do the 3.4 pulley without doing the following first...

Headers
downpipe
exhaust
DHP PCM
180 T-stat
COLD COLD plugs

I have seen too many L67's go BOOM. Mine has the afore mentioned mods (no headers). I did the 3.4 and the PCM first. I has so much knock-retard that I had to rush to get the other stuff. Luckily, I didnt blow it up. I have 206,000 miles on my ORIGINAL L67. No one that i know personally who owns a MODDEDL67 car has made it more than 100,000 miles before the car goes . The people I know blew theirs up being stupid. Simply not changing the plugs with a 3.4 can be dangerous to an L67's health! Knock retard will own you!

lol@ this thread. buicks are for old people anyways. if you like it so much, more power to you. its still an american sedan with old technology/drivetrain and low resale value. and a supercharged 3.8 liter, making 240 hp, running a bit faster than a j32 isnt impressive, its pathetic. a SC CLs runs with M3s.
