Just purchased this 1999 CL and I'm thinking about tinting the windows and I would appreciate your suggestions for % of tint............thanks

 

i'd go with a nice 20% tint...

 

how bad are the cops on tint laws in your area?

I say 20%....

That's what I have and mine's NBP. Looks good.

 

In Georgia the law is a minimum of 32%. So if you wanna keep it legal I'd go with 35% all around. It won't be real black but it would look good and keep the cops away. If your not worried about the cops I'd say 20%

wow, your 99 looks good! i went with Limo on the back 3 and medium on the two front.(sorry don't know what % that is) My '01 CL is black with black interior and I needed it dark to keep the heat off the black leather esp in SoCal. Cops are a-holes out here, but i've been pulled over 3 times for speeding(don't laugh) and they never said sh*t about my illegally tinted front windows. keturah, you probably have 5% in the back and 35% in the front. Even in California most cops don't have a problem with 35%. My dad has had it on every car hes owned and never gotten a ticket for it. I think as long as the cop can see you in the car and they feel safe they're not gonna ticket you for it.

 

35% is a good tint, but you need to check your local laws first. The 2.3 wheels are the best on the 1st Gen CL , I always wanted those.

 

10-20% all around is nice.

 

15%-20 and you will be happy

 

I would go legal there. Savannah cops are very bad. they just got a new captain for the state patrol office there and he is busting people left and right. I have serval customers there that buy film from me. One of them got put in jail for doing cars in 20% and darker. But that call is on you. You know with the black on black it will look darker. But that is a hard call not doing 20%.

Worst thing could happen is get a ticket.

 

exactly, and no body is gonna pull over a pimp in a CL

 

last fall i started to do the 35%...I got as far as the rear side window. 35 looks light as hell from the outside, so I just gave up. IMHO, I think clear looks classiest on black, but if you're dead-set, and you want to see a result (and po in your area ain't that bad), go with at least 20.

20%-35% if your worried about the police. my is go 5% thats what i got cuz i like the dark look. on a black cl that would look mean.

Recommend 20% all around. Currently running with 35% on the fronts, practically transparent.

i have a black cl with 20% on side and 5% rear windows, i'm in pa and have had cops follow me and been pulled over once with no problems with my tint, i even have the brake light covered with 5%...looks nice and sleek, the 20% will match the 5% at night standing about 5-10 feet away, i think i should of went 15% on sides but that is pushin it with the 5% on the back...

 

go with the 20, black; you're not gonna see the 35

 

Go with 20%. My parents got a 35% done for my Bday and i just hate it. I guess thats what you get when you dont pay for it.

best advice i can give you is to go one shade darker then what you think and go charcoal or similar color not black
35 go 20
20 go 15 etc

personally if your going to do darker then 30 then just go 5 becuase the same cop will get you either way 25 20 15 or 5 so just go for broke.

I say 5% charcoal like this

as you can see i liked those rims best, the 98+ grill, and the 98+ center console. i had a 97 btw

what size rims are those for that black CL in the pics?

 

"that black cl" was mine and those are 17x7 2 piece rays gram lights 57f pros. dragon now owns them and they have been discontinued.

The shop that I got mine done at told me that mine were 20%, but according to the trooper that pulled me over they were 13%.

 

at least you know you tint was working above its design specs

 

Mine is 5% on back and 20% on all sides.
