Window regulator replacement

I hate these windows with a passion. Where is the best place to find the part to replace it. Not going to acura or a mechanic to get raped. im going to do the install myself. Any input is greatly appreciated.

eBay... get window regulator for 97 accord 2 door... fits our cars, costs about 50 bucks. your one-touch down will no longer work, but its much better than spending 4x that amount for acura part

DIY is here:

hey, go to 1AAUTO.com, they have the ones that work (one touch on mine works), and i think they are only charging like 67.00 right now, which is damn cheap for one of those, 2 months ago they were the cheapest at 93.00...check them out, i was damn satisfied with em

Good luck

Duck

oh, and btw, the only way to manually push it up is to keep your door panel off til you change the regulator

keep your door panel off and push the window up from the inside opening... it will stay up for a while, eventually it slides down on its own though, unless you wedge it with something

Get some Teflon Silicone Lubricant from an auto parts store and spay the rubber that the window travels on. They will work like NEW!

how would that cause it? many people on here have done this. It saves the regulator, not kill it. Your regulator had lots of wear and tear before you applied this. You just did it too late.

another one bites the dust --

i'm new, but i've been lurking for a few weeks, today my girlfriend was giving a co-worker a ride home and he slammed the door pretty hard when he left (the window was down) it wouldn't roll up when my girl got on the freeway.

i got the door panel off (thanks to some nice tips and diys) and it seems like it is a regulator problem - the cables are all jacked. i took the handle off my plunger and cut a notch in the top of it and shoved it in there to hold it up. i just ordered a regulator that says it's for a 94-97 2dr accord rh side, (ebay $47.95 shipped.) i just wanna confirm that shit'll work and see if anyone has any tips for me before i start.

thanks -
brad

test out the window for a day or so before putting the door panel back on for minor adjustments, and wear gloves when you put the door panel back on or else risk cutting your finger off. Also buy that silicone spray and lube it up.

thanks, will do, is installing the regulator pretty straight forward? and is putting the door panel back on that much of a pain in the ass? what kind of glue should i use to reattach the lining?

thanks again.

i cant remember what the problem was, but i remember being like "holy shit, im such an idiot.. i cant believe i spent all that time on this shit because of that"
maybe stop thinking about it and just go to put it on with a fresh state of mind..
i wish i remembered what it was, because it was something really stupid and simple

me too, also any way to add-on / modify a regulator so that we can auto down the windows + sunroof with the remote? I was thinking how cool it would be if you held down unlock for 2 seconds and it did that (similar to trunk)

yes, it will. WD-40 is a great cleaner/lubricant because it removes buildup. But left on, it will eat through finishes and deteroriate rubber over time

start gently at the front, and work you're way back slowwwllly. It's really good to get a buddy to help, saves a lot of time that way. You're gonna have to hold it almost perpendicular to the door to get the top lip in the groove, then alternately move the panel down and gently towards the back. This is where that buddy comes in. When it's lined up, lift the bottom a little to attach the wire bundles

Good luck

Put the window down when putting the door panel back on.

Also, loosen the screws around the door handle (latch) that hold it in place. let it have some "give"

you will have it on in seconds.

Well my passanger window also went out this weekend. I have a 1997 3.0 V6 CL and found this part online but not sure if it will work for the 3.0. Any suggestions??

http://www.1aauto.com/1A/WindowRegul...1331435/407010

The other ones I found are $100 or more. I also found one on ebay but a used one with all these problems does not sound too good.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT

Any suggestions and level of difficulty for a begginner would be great. I was quoted for parts/labor $300 from dealer near work and will spend that if I cant do it myself which I think I can as I got the door panel off to lift the window back up and wedge it up with a stick. Any help would be awesome...
Thanks,
Eb

$300 that's what I paid, since then i've had the door panel on and off a dozen times and wish I'da done it myself. The 1st link you posted will work, or try ebay, they have lots of regulators on there for cheap. Also, there's diy guides on here of step by step directions, you should be able to do it yourself if you are mechanically inclined.

Thanks for the info. I got the DIY guide and me and a buddy are going to try it out as soon as I get the parts. I went to 3 stores here and all had it for around $105 on special order. So I may just buy it online from here

http://www.1aauto.com/1A/WindowRegul...1331435/407010

and hope to get it soon as I dont want my car to get broken into. Is everyone sure this (4 cylinder) listed part will work with my 3.0 v6? If so I will buy it tonight and hope to get it by the weekend. Or let me know if you think this one below would be better since it is off an acura but is USED!!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT

Once I hear a few opinions I will buy it and try it on out.

By the way you guys rock as I love this site and it has helped me fix a bunch of parts on my car so far. Great information and everyone is real cool.
Thanks gang,
Eb
