Window problems

Hello all, long time reader, first time poster here...a newbie.

Yes, well I need to. I have owned the 2.3 for about a month. The windows in it are much slower than in my 98 Accord. The Accord's are actually quite zippy. After some investigaton I find that the Accord's are a scissors and gear mechanism. The 2.3's are a cable mechanism. I was going to look and see if the shape of the doors and the windows would allow me to use the Honda mechanism instead of the Acura. The cost of the parts initially would be a little higher, $140 instead of around $100, but if they don't break again and they are faster, wouldn't it be worth it? Anybody have any experience with this? If this is such a common problem, is there a TSB or anyhting on it?

personally.... they are both HONDA parts so they are gonna be the same... a maiin cause of the "speed" of the windows is not only the arms, but the window jam itself.. we have tight jams... if you try out a few accords, they have the same problem...

OK, I had both the doors apart (98 Accord and 99 Acura 2.3) and unfortunately, the door punch outs are different. I suppose I could drill some holes and use the Accord window stuff, but I'd rather not resort to that yet. I called the Acura Client Helpline and they said that there was a TSB on the windows, no suggestions, it just states that they may fail. They are going to evaluate the situation and let me know if they'll cover it. I hope they do, it seems to be a common problem. I guess I'll keep everyone updated...

Keep in mind that the window seals on the CL are much tighter than in the Accord. This may help contribute to the slower speed of the windows.

BTW: I've had 4 regulators break in 18 months.

OK, Update on the window regulator. I talked to Client Services and they wanted the car evaluated by a dealer. Unfortunately, I already have the motor out and the window is held up by the down cable hooked to the top and wrapped around a bolt. So I put the motor in a bag and showed it to the dealer. He said "Yep, it's broke" And said he would forward what he saw to Client Services. The next day I got a call from Client Services. Since my car is a 99' and out of warranty due to the mileage, they were going to offer this "One time goodwill offer" of offering the part for free if I paid for the labor to install it. My local dealer quoted 1.5 hours at a total of $140 to install. This was ridiculous. It does not take 1.5 hours to put it in, I can do it in less than 30 min. The offer was not negotiable. I asked for a supervisor and was told "Supervisors don't talk to Clients, I am a Case Manager, I have the final word on any offers to Clients" There is also no avenue for appeal or reconsideration. Acura now has a dissatisfied customer. I'll buy the regulator from acuraautomotiveparts.net for $106 and install it myself. Too bad there is not an aftermarket source for this part, or a comperable Accord part...I'd buy that. Oh Well, you win some you lose some.
