Will not fit our 3.0? What the F*%@

I'm sure this has probably been asked before. Who would be interested in a Comptech's Supercharger? Mike B says that it would not fit our 3.0 engines due to that is based on 96-97 Accord and that there is no demand on this kit from the 3.0 CL camp. The engine bay is similar to the 98 ACCORD more than the 97 ACCORD. This kit just hit the streets. Could we show Comptech that we are interested. Go to www.comptechusa.com web forum and let them know. Power is in numbers

Doesn't Ross allready have one on his 3.0? He posted pics of his supercharger not that long ago but I'm not sure if its a Comptech one.

i think ross' supercharger is comptech from the accord v6. i dont know if he had it custom fit or if it was direct bolt on but i do know that he blew his tranny on one of his first drives with it and is now getting his tranny rebuilt by a guy with a 5-6 sec vette (i think thats right...correct me if im wrong)

From what I remember, the supercharger is fine, but it blew-out 2nd gear on his tranny, so he took off the SC and sent it back.

Well, I hope Ross reads this thread and give us some updates on what he did exactly, what happened to his tranny and foremost was it worth trying. I hope everything is ok with his ride.

I've been emailing them (CT) for a years asking the same question. If they don't release an official kit for the 3.0CL, then I am probably just gonna get the one for the 3.0 Accord. Ross has shown that it is possible to fit it, the customized difference appears to be the IceBox Intake which may not fit our bay correctly. From the accordv6.com forum, looks like the SC will be running 4.5psi of boost to prevent overwhelming their tranny. If you guys beef up the tranny, you can probably get a smaller pulley and run a higher boost.

Comptech has got to be dumb! There is potential of more cutomers buying their supercharger if they included it us in this forum. I'm pretty sure at least 200 potential buyers! WTF are they thinking, is not like they have to redo the whole supercharger! Maybe like you said is the ICE BOX that needs to be adjusted

Same diff with AEM....why make a CAI and market for the 98-00 accord but not the 3.0 CL's. All they would have to do is move a mount slightly...Thing is it costs a lot for these companies to change even the slightest thing...but I am with you all when I say comptech just doesnt know how much potential us CL'ers have. I asked them about making sways for us before but mike just refused saying that there would be not market for them and that they would lose too much money. This after selling headers for 1000+

RMSTOICO: Good luck with your turbo build up but I prefer a Supercharger on my automatic, just my 2 cents. Anyways we should keep bugging Mike at Comptech and show him that we are potentail buyers! More power to 1st Gen. CLs where the J30 was born!

an honest and simple answer....
1. we do not have very popular cars that are seen as "hot imports" YET that is!
2. to change a mount location =

a new mold > new tooling > more materials > more labor > alot of $$$$ > not a large market to sell and make $$$ in!!!!

Yep!! It's not as easy as 1 2 3..although we all wish it could be. I think Mike said something like they have to make them in the 1000's at a time and would have to sell at least half to break even? Something like that.

Actually a lot of people had them fit perfectly...just not me hehe I guess you guys are just that damn good! Mine line up to the hole that is closest to the engine block, but that hole isn't threaded...

here is a little trick i learned over the years.

take a toothpick and stick it in the hole. as you are holding the toothpick in the hole (against the side of the hole) spin the rubber mount into the hole. the toothpick will make the hole smaller plus it is soft wood and will thread. then break it off towards the end and you wont even see it.

good trick when threaded holes are bigger than the screw. good luck!

Hey,

I posted there too, I was the one who had to correct "what's his name's" response who said our engines were more similar to the 95-97 Accord V6. Which he bluntly responded with, "We have no plans to fit the SC to the 97-99 CL".

Well, like I said Ross has done it and shown it is possible. The only thing I question is that the Icebox is a box intake with an intake pipe that runs down into the fender. Not sure if the box & pipe will line up correctly in the CL. I'm sure regular pipe-only CAI fit the CL as Ross has mentioned. I'm probably gonna get the SC around June-July and hope it all works out.

So is it the actual supercharger that they claim won't fit or just the icebox or some other accessory that doesn't match up exactly?

I've got a link to a page that gives a little info on the on the SC that's being used. I'll post it later when I get home. I too, read that post on the SC not fitting the 97-99 3.0 cL. I think it's a crock of SHIT!! We need to call and email comptech with our demands! More and more people are buying cl(s) now a days.

Ross, how hard was it to fit the SC in the 3.0cL engine bay? If I'm not mistaken that SC can be mounted 8-10 different ways? Did you take any pics of the install? What came with the SC that comptech gave you?

Yah there was one that was suppose to be in the testing stages and be in production in 2004 for the j30 but that didn't happen yet.
