Widebody Cl!!!!

I see that a bunch of people are taking body kits from the 98 Accord and getting them molded to their Cl. I wanna mold a widebody kit to my car which I assume is possible but my question is on all of the kits I see for 98 Accords, all of the front bumbers dont have a turn signal like out Cl. Some of the kits have spots for map/fog lights. Do most people tie their turn signals to their parking lights if not what do they do for turn signals?

do you think the parking light would be a legal substitute for the turn signal.... it is on the corner of the car.

im not looking for an outrageous body kit here, im looking for a smooth kit, and one that has a little wider fender so i could stick some bad ass 18x10 wheels in the back, that would be so bad ass

18x10's are gonna cause more problems with your suspension than weither or not a widebody kit will make them look like they belong.

What problems will occur by wider wheels, i though suspension problems were caused by lowering the car?

Wider wheels would rub the control arm when turning (not enough offset), or rub the fender liner (too much offset)

but the widebody kit would fix the second problem with too much offset wouldnt it?

No. The width would cause the outside edge of the tire to hit the fenderwhen turning. Unless you increase the diameter of the fender opening.

how do you figure. If you get the right offset you won't be adding any size to the inner part of the wheel, only the outer which would lead to larger lips in the wheel. If you have fender flares you essentially are just making room for this to happen?

On our car the diameter of tire is 25" always usless you modify your spedometer for larger wheels. That means if someone were to put 10" wheels on their car. The maximum diameter wheel well needed is 27" for the tire to move freely with out rubbing and with out a change in offset, increase the offset (i think i have this right) and the tire moves away from the car decreasing the diameter needed in the wheel well.

I dont have a tape measure or I would go outsite in the 4 degree weather and find out how wide the wheel well is...

Damn you guys for making me do this in PS...

Normal:

Normal turned:

Flared, with wider wheels/tires:

Flared, with wider wheels/tires, turned:

As you can see, the opening in the wheel well would not be big enough, reagrdless of the flares. The tire would hit it in the front and back (turning right or left).

Solution here is stick with 8" wide wheels, and go for a bigger offset/spaccers to even up with the flares.

chrisbpickering: what did u use for your dimentions because u have exactly what i have cept for u dont have numbers your 10" wheel look like 11.5 compared to the 8". i didnt know the size of the wheel either but here are the differences in pivot radius between the 8" and 10" tires

8^2+12.5^2 = 13.12 13.12*2 = 26.24
10^2+12.5^2 = 13.46 13.46*2 = 26.92

26.92-26.24 = .68 ~< 3/4"

3/4" is a bit of a difference and I could see where rubbing could occur. looks like each side would only rub 3/8" and im sure that could be compensated for

I did not use numbers, just rouged it and scaled the tire larger for the 2ng group.

Your right, it could be close, and the plastic fender liner can be cut, removed, modified if need be.

oh.. the flares that i got are for accords.. I dont' think they would fit perfectly unless i do the custom job..

also, i asked the shop and they said i need around $200 each side/ w/o painting.. so.. it might be over $1000... (ripped off??)

and the spacer.. i don't know the exact name of the stuff..

u know.. the things we can put in the wheels.. for the cars which have widebodykits..

ah.........................dunno:o
