why did i even try!
Well i put my head unit in today, i had somewhat of an idea as to how to wire it since i watched other people put them in. Connected color to color, and when I turned the car on, the thing didnt turn on. So i just left it as is since its too dark to see anything. Ideas?

You might have to actually turn the headunit "on", by holding down the source button or something similar.
When I put my Pioneer HU in my CL and turned the key on, nothing happened unil I started messing with buttons... held down the "Source" button and it turned on and worked fine.
It could be something stupid like that.

You matched color to color, why did you not go and buy a harness kit. $20 would have saved you a real headache. Well, I hope things work out, but putting 12v in the wrong place could be a bad thing (fires and burnt up hardware).
Good luck.
Good luck.

I did buy a harness kit. I took it off the head unit originally in there. That one was put in like 6 months ago. Ill double check everything, though. The harness from the head unit came with a blue wire with a plastic clear cap at the end, and i couldnt figure out what it was.

check the fuses. I think the cigarette and console fuse is blown because you might have accidentally touched the 12v power line with the ground lines or something. The same thing happened to me after i installed the head unit for someone else.

If you have a harness then i believe these are the colors.
Yellow = constant 12 volts
Red = accessory
Blue = power antena
black = ground
orange= amp out <---not 100% sure. would have to see the harness.
2 White= front left speakers
2 grey = front right speakers
2 purple= rear right
2 green = rear left.
Hope this helps.

Is the deck brand new?
If you got the harness, its pretty self explanitory.
I would try the holding of the source button, i have seen a bunch of decks like that. There should also be a reset button, normally located behind the face on the unit itself (if detachable)
If not, it will be on the actual face plate itself.
One way to check to see if it works is unplug the harness from the car, then reconnect it. You should hear the laser mechanism move.

The head unit isnt even turning on. Whenever I turn the car on i hear a noise, which happens every time. And when I put the new head unit it, it still made the sound. So i have no idea.
I held in the source button today, but it still didnt turn on. I thought if its wired wrong, some of my lights wouldnt work. Blinkers, tails, headlights. But they all work.
And the deck is brand new. Its the pioneer 6800 or 680. Whichever is the newer one.

There are 4 fuses for the radio, 2 fuses and 2 backups, look in your manual. There are 2 in the fuse panel by the driver's feet, 2 in the engine bay. Mine when it blew was in the engine bay, it's a blue one.

Did your harness adapter plug into the port on the back of the HU, or were the wires hardened into the body of it? On my JVC, the harness kit pluged into the HU and then connected straight into the main harness in the dash? That is why I am curious about the wire matching thing. It wasn't necessary to do any spicing for my four year old JVC. So I was just wondering why it would be necessary for a brand new Pioneer.

Then you mate the colored wires to the same color wires that come with the HU. You must of got some pre-made harness for JVC HU's

Alright good news, its just the wires that I have mixed up. I put in my stock unit and it worked. SO its just the wiring. Im going to rewire everything. The ground wire on the head unit harness had a metal 3/4 of a circle on it. It said I had to ground that to the body. But I asked a kid down the street who put h/u in and he said to just connect it to the metra harness ground. Also, there is a blue wire with a plastic clear cap at the end, it says system remote control, so im guessing I dont hook that up to anything, just leave the cap on it. Theres one that says battery, and its yellow so I hook it up to the other yellow one. Theres a wire that says ACC, and its red, hook it up to the other red one on the metra harness? Theres also an orange one that says ILL, and its orange/white stripe. All of these are form the harness that came with the unit.

The remote wire would be used to trigger the amp.
Remote Power:
The remote wire from the head unit tells the amp when to turn on and off. It is a low current control signal that runs from your head unit to the amplifier. It must be fused behind the head unit with a 0.5 amp fuse (1/2 amp).
Hope this helps.

Ok, so today, I was like what the hell ill go to Best Buy. So I go there and tell the kid my problem. Hes like yeah same thing happened with my celica. He told me I had to bypass the amp, only way to get it to play sound. I was like F that. So I then went to Circuit City. Talked to a guy and he seemed like he knew what he was talking about. He told me I need an amp integration harness. But what do you know, they dont make it for our cars. So I left there thinking I would never get it solved. My last resort was Auto Image. Told them my situation, and the guy takes me keys and goes to my car. Hes in my car for about 3 mintues. He comes in a hands me the keys, and says it works. I was like what? I couldnt believe it, after all these people telling me I need to do different things. I wanted to proove you haters wrong about BestBuy/Circuit City, but they failed again. Anyways, thanks for your help though guys.
