Whos had a trans. replaced?

Just wondering, it seems like the majority of the 1st gen transmissions that go are 98 or 99's.. mine is a 97 original with 116K miles and i drive it pretty hard sometimes, hasn't slipped once, ever.. however the 1st>2nd shift jerks a bit, but its consistant and hasn't gotten worse over time. My mom used to have a 98 3.0CL and at 110K her trans. started slipping a lot and hesitated during the 1st>2nd shift, it was def. gonna go, but she sold it lol. so perhaps the 97's aren't as problematic, or we're just lucky idk what do you guys think

I probably jinxed myself by making this thread

dude if your at all worried about your tranny it may be in your best interest to install a tranny cooler. i dont think they are that expensive, nor hard to install. Do a search for tranny cooler.

well if it goes soon, it'll be sitting with me in the garage for a few days rebuilding, that'll be fun.. if it lasts another year or so, then it'll be replaced, just not with an auto

I have a 97 3.0 with 165k on the original tranny. I have towed all kinds of trailers, uhaul, double PWC trailer, doulble motorcycle trailer, etc..., with my car and am surprised it has lasted this long. Last week I drove from Baltimore to San Antonio with a double motorcycle trailer which had my ZZR1200 bike and several boxes on it. Drove straight threw 1700 miles no sleep 25.5 hrs. I was only getting 15-18 MPG. Crazy but the tranny had no issues. I hope to get 175 out of it. Wish me luck.

I found today my tranny is shot, it's not worth paying $3k to fix it either since my car has 170k miles and i wasnt gonna sell it for more than 2500 anyway...

It was a great car while it lasted though! made it to 171k on the first tranny, and i drive it ALOT and HARD!

same here but a few months back. haha they had to fix it, 30 day warantee from the dealer, but that ensued morre problems( long ass story with the mechanics screwing up the car and the body shop). considering i got my car at auction price.

who did you take it to? aamco.. they dont know shit. try changin the linear solenoid. at worst case you wasted 70$ for a sensor, and at best your rollin again.
