its been whining for a while now but didnt really care till buddy told me its not suposed to be like that... poped the hood and it sounds like its coming from the timing belt area.. any ideas? should i get it checked up or just leave it?

you can only really hear it while your outside the car.. any help would be helpful

 

whining? or like a metal scratching noise? maybe distributor...

 

It could be timing belt tensioner or could be something w/ accessory belt/s. I would remove accessory belts and start engine w/o accessory. This will isolate problem to timing belt or accessory belt. Then proceed from that finding.

check your water pump. did you change your timing belt recently?

 

timing belt hasn't been changed recently.. im not sure but today it seems like it was gone? maybe cause it was really hot, but i usualy hear it.. its very simular to mach30sirs thread
