I believe he is referring to Comptech's shop services.
http://www.comptechusa.com/services.htm

Don't know where the money for the level four engine prep is coming from but okay.

This is the break down of it:

New J30A1 Arrives monday.. Completely paid for I can part out my 171k if anyone interested

Bore/Stroke/(Please officer dont impound my Car (B/S/P))(debating whether or not to go to 3.41 cause that is real close to the cylinder walls, I would have to implement a better cooling system to sustain the heat)

New Machined Cams /w gears

Internals range from
Forged Pistons
new sleeves to rods and rod bolts to
main bearings
lots of valve work
Bigger injectors to increase fuel flow

Rebuilt Tranny w/
Transmission Cooler
High Stall TC
CompTech Clutch Kit

Larger Oil Alum Oil pan to keep the temp of oil down

I took the Optional ECU, intake and exhaust (/w new cat too)

Upped the CCs and will run at 11.!:1 Compression no FI

As far as funding goes I began work at At&T Wireless when I was 16 (call it 16 1/2 if you must)

I steadily got pay increases and deposited everything extra into saving that came from the increase after $15 hr. At 18 I started putting all that into my 401k and have been ever since. I still take the $15 hr for 40h/w with all over time and bonuses and live off that the other 9.44 (11.11) and commission went into my 401k. Well Cingular aquired ATT and now we are losing the 401k option and we get the option to Lump sum it, bi weekly receive it, or transfer it when we get another employer that is cool with 401ks. I dont plan on another employer cause Im about to move to Fraud Analyst Review. I said to hell with it and Ill take lump sum and throw it down on my dew car. I am in a big fight with my father though (yes daddy still gets an opinion on what I do) but the choice is mine. I have to be at CompTech in El Dorado Hills on monday and I make the final decision then. That is when I will cut the check as I get my 401k reimbersment. I was planning to place a DP and take out a loan on a 2 bed house out in folsom, and my daddy poitned that out to me. I questioning. I did jump the gun on the post but this is what my mind is set on doing. (Damn I need to learn to think before I do things)

Total Project Cost (rounded $18k)

But hey if all else fails at least I got a new J30 out of it.

you could always yank a 3.4 badge off a chevy, they use their 3.4L V-6 in a lot of their cars (not sure which have badges though, but i'm sure you can find one).

18k is a waste on a first gen cl. Take the 18 and buy a porsche!!!!!
You can get a used boxster for that much!!!!

I drove a 911 carrera today. That damn thing was SWEET!!!!!

Good luck finding a Boxster in decent shape with normal miles. Plus have you ever riden in one? They are nice, but the suspension is stiff as hell. Your kidneys hurt after awhile. Plus expenses on a Porsche would be 10X that of a CL at least, probably more.

I agree, its kinda stupid investment. I would invest it and save it for a down payment on a house or condo, but its your money, do what you want.

Let us know how the build-up goes, and make sure they take plenty of pics

Point taken...but how much do you think the expenses are on a first gen cl with that much engine work...... I was looking and they are all over the place here for under 20.... But for 18k i could find something worth it...Like a used S2000!

Seems silly to dump 18k into a car that is still gonna have a under 10k trade in value.

If hes using a whole new block and trans, he can always swap it out later and sell it.

You're right though, you will never get the money back out of the car, especially when you do major mods like internal work, but its not about the money, its about the speed, bragging rights, orginality, etc.

Exactly.. Any other CL's gone through the comptech internals. Originally I was thinking of the 3.2 SC and my fried would fabricate the manifold for me to apply it the the 3.0

I want an all motor 10-12 sec car... Full interior, system, trunk and a tank of gas so I can run it all night long. But a house sells better than a car in my opinion

Hopefully you can make it to the Sac meet so we can check out the ride, and get some info on the project.

A guy w/ an NSX will be at Comptech next friday for a baseline dyno. After that, they are installing i/h/e on the NSX.

then part out the cl and sell it and use that money for an upgraded turbo system . then you'll deffinitly have a 10-12 second car.

seeing that done to a CL though would be sweet. if you had money to just spend and not care then do it.

It would be nice to finally see a CL that has been ripped apart and turned into a beast. Sorry if i misread but did he say he was making it a five speed as well?
