dont clear coat it

clear is not meant to be on VERY high temps

use a nice paint, high temp and make sure to sand down the whole head

oh and BTW take it off to do it

is it just as simple as unbolting it, sanding, painting, and bolting it back on? dont need to worry about new seals or anything? my engine compartment needs a clean up... thanks guys

havent done it on this car, but on my old accord i just pulled it off and sandblasted it, then used some metallic spray paint from the hardware store(x3 coats) , was like that for 1.5years never faded or chipped.

spray paint looks good, and last a long time without fading or chiping, but powder coat is just wow

There's a valve cover gasket you'll probably have to replace. Sometimes you can get away with reusing the old one, but that's only if it been replaced recently. There also might be rubber seals around the spark plug holes, but they shouldn't need replaced if you're careful.

If you're going for the OEM look, THC makes a high temp (wrinkle or crinkle) paint. I can't remember exactly what it's called, but it looks great. You can probably get it at AutoZone or Advanced. If not, try online.

Mask off the "2.2 VTEC" and "H". It will look a lot better than spaying over it.

I ran into the same problem, I couldn't get mine done either and I wanted it done by the meet. Now I'm trying to get my lights cleared by the meet, either one of the two must be done.
