Car seems sluggish? Seems to shift a little slower. Anyone else experience this?

 

you probably lose about 5 HP when you flip the AC on

 

yeap yeap....it takes horse power to run the AC....i always have mine off and set at 90 degrees....even in the summer....plus i live in cali...so itz all gravy...always cold at night....

 

So your saying you can feel the difference from 5hp? It seems more like 15hp on mine lol...

Ya i usually roll windows down most of the time or windows closed and no a/c but today it was freakin hot...and my car turns into a sauna after it's been sitting in the sun all day

 

my ac is broken.

 

I think my A/C drains about 25hp!

hey anyone know whats wrong with my AC if it sqeeks like theres a baby bird in there??? Mine did this last summer when I used it alot on full blast, then went away for the winter. Now its coming back and it pisses me off.

 

Inside the car??? Maybe a leaf got in it.

 

yeah mine feels like a 15-20 hp loss... I don't use it mostly unless a passenger requests it... I don't like having to floor it to pass someone... wastes even more gas when flooring it and having the a/c on... (2.3)

 

my car feels about the same when i turn it on although i can notice a difference when really pushing it but during normal driving i cant tell.

 

Friend of mine just had a dead mouse removed from the fan housing in her car... was mummified. Made one hell of a noise (like a jet engine).

My '98 2.3 is sluggish with AC on... its a stupid design to run the compressor beltdriven off the crankshaft... should be done with an electric motor instead.

 

I had mine checked out for that same noise.... It was the fan bearing starting to go out. If you let it continue, it won't blow air into the cabin anymore.

mine did that for about a year, then itjust stopped and hasn't done it since. I think there was a leaf in the fan

 

go to autozone and buy disc brake squeek stop and goo it on the belts that run the air compressor and then run the car, turn it off, add more goo, run it...etc etc untill the squeek magically dissapears!!!

 

h22turboCL and i have the same problem!! my A/C is called 2/70 , = 2 windows down at 70 miles per hour!!

 

thanks for the tips guys i'll try them both. I think I still have warranty, well it's 100k, but I have n clue if they'll void my power window/ AC/ electronic warranteefor the motor swap.

Well I know haveing the air on does drain some power, but I don't know how much. I can't never tell the difference in mine. The bird noise could be the fan bearing or a leak.

 

Also anyone ever have leave's and other debris fly out of the vents and hit them in the face? That shit hurt!
