When buying your CL...
When buying your CL, what were you deciding factors? Were you just trying to find a good deal, or were you holding out for something specific?
I wanted a black CL with a stick, moonroof and spoiler. I got them all but sacrificed 4/5 of a liter for the stick shift. I was disappointed the 6 doesn't come with a stick until the second gen, but the stick was a must.
What about you guys?

I looked at a Sentra Spec V, but i found the CL. I really didnt want to go nissan, so i kep looking for honda. I really wanted another 98-2002 accord. But i couldnt find one in the right price range. Then i found the CL
i was actually looking for a EK sedan or an 99-00 Acura EL....but the ones for sale had a lot of km's and the prices were ridiculous
so i decided on the CL, bigger engine and more options with less km's for less $$...oh yea cheap ass insurance rates as well !

I researched the 3.0 CL for 1-2 months, read everything I could but somehow missed this board completely. I had always like the looks of them and noticed that I rarely saw them.
Anyways, I went to the dealer to see a blue 98 but it had scuffs running all the way down one side. Salesman said they just got in a white 98 in great condition. Turned out the dealer had all the service paperwork from day one (had 2 owners, 1st was a lease) and all work was done by the dealer. Ran it through my mechanic and he said it was in perfect condition.
Bought it 2 years ago with 66k.

i bought my cl because it was cheap, 3500 bucks. i drove a cb7 before that and loved it for sure. how could i not love it, black, black leather, 5 spd, did i mention its black. plus the only other person i know with a first gen is my best friends dad who has a 3.0 with 70k on it. which i considered buying to by the way.
honestly i bought it, because this car is original and its just plain sexy.

My only request was that my car was black. To be honest, i didn't care whether it was a CL or not. I prefered an import but it wasn't necessary.
It got down to a my CL and a 2002 Dodge Stratus R/T. The Stratus only had 40,000 miles, but it was an american car (I will likley NEVER buy an american car again, unless its a dodge stealth). I think i made the right decision.

I had no idea what a Acura CL was. In fact, i swore that i would never buy a 4 banger. I was at a lot looking at a few mustangs, and i saw the CL sitting on the front row. The interior, sunroof, and 5spd are what sold me on the car.
i was looking for a 98 accord coupe but had no luck....so one day i wet to go check out a CL and the rest was history...
the funny thing was that i always hated the rear of the CL but now it's my favourite thing

That's interesting that a lot of you guys actually wanted Accords. I drove a '97 Accord for years before my CL and loved it. That was my family's extra car, which I relinquished back when I wanted to get my own reliable wheels, having trouble with my Wrangler.
Anyway, for me, an Accord would've been the second option. I wanted the CL and had been longing for the car for two years before I was able to get it. I think I first saw one in the background while watching Jerry Maguire and was hooked.
I find it odd none of you guys could find Accords and happened across the CL. I barely had any CLs in my area and hundreds of Accords to choose from.

One day i was on auto trader and i put my search criteria in the site, but i forgot to choose integra, just acura, and like 3 or 4 cl's popped up. so i went for test drive.. and the 1st CL i sat in i fukin fell in love.
I was looking for an integra for 4 months, EVERY fuking one was already fixed up.. i got so upset.
It fit me soo much better. Being 6'0" 235 lbs being in an integra probably isnt a good idea..

I was looking for an Accord of Civic before knew much about the CL. Was at a friend's shop and they had recently sold a CL, so we looked for a CL and got one within a week.
Yea same here. At first it looked like an old man's car, now I think it's sleek.

My Integra had just been crashed and I was looking for another one... I saw a couple of CLs and decided to go test drive one. I also test drove a TL and liked it as well. But, the CL was a sweeter deal. Now I am a very happy CL owner... Only $3,900 left to pay on her and she'll be paid in full.
I'm a mustang guy, i've only owned mustangs as my "nice" car and driven a beater for winters, and more recently as year round cars as the stang is too nice and horrible on fuel to dailey drive. My last beater was my 1st and last 4 cylinder american car - I figured being a mustang it would be ok (an 87 LX coupe, the slowest car on the planet).
Needless to say that car died a horrible death 2 weeks ago, so I started car shopping. It was time to get a nice dailey driver with a full load. I was set on getting a nice reliable import and looked all over the place for one in my price range of 8-10k cdn. I didn't find much other than a '98 nissan altima with cloth, 2.4L and 98k KMS. I waited to long on the deal and it was sold on me. Fortunatly i stumbled upon my CL at a local GM dealer in the back of a used car show room. Black on black, 3.0l and loaded to the nuts. I'd looked at CLs before on-line, and knew they were basicly an accord, of wich we have had 3 in the family and have been incredably reliable cars. I'm big on 2 door cars as 4 doors makes me feel old. After reading the reviews online, seeing that a 200hp v6 could reach almost 30 mpg I decided to drive it, and after seeing all the power goodies and taking it for a drive I was sold.
I love the car so far, although i'm now paranoid about the transmission thanks to this forum! Also my heated seat on the driver side is intermitantly working and I am in the process of fixing that. Otherise I couldn't be happier with the purchase and I plan to own the car for a very long time!

I wanted something sporty, reliable and pimp. Actually got my car from a toyota dealer, originally stopped to look at a 99 white prelude, but it was beat on, had cloth interior, was all jacked up and was not in great condition, found my CL on the other end of the lot, and my friend had just died in a Black Teg Type R, who I was real into modding cars with, so I kinda was inspired by him as well. But I wanted something different and was looking to go "import" but didn't want a civic or teg or the other rice cars that everyone else had. Once I saw all the features, black leather, heated seats, v6, black on black, it was love. I love black cars Thread
