A lot of the wheels on ebay come with instructions from what i have heard. I know you need either a wheel or airbag puller and i think thats the only special tool you need. Do a search and you will find your answer

Oh what color wheel did you get, is it wood?

I changed mine out...it's every easy. Here a simple version because I have to study for finals...taking a break...

1. Disconnect the battery so the air bag doesn't go off when u disconnect it.

2. Make your your steering wheel is straight. VERY IMPORTANT that you do this. If it isn't when you put it all back together, your steering will be off.

3. Look at on the bottom of the steering wheel, you'll see this plastic cover that would be removed. Remove it and you'll see two (I think) yellow connectors which is for the air bag. Disconnect it.

4. On both sides of the steering wheel you'll see two long plastic taps. Remove those and you'll see one trox screw (think that's what it's called) on each side. Remove those two, and the air bag will come right off. (important: place air bag at a safe place with the air bag cover facing down...)

5. When the airbag is removed, you will see screws for the audio and course control. Remove those.

5. By now, you'll see one big bolt in the middle of the steering wheel. REMOVE it. It is very tight, so you'll see a torque wrench or use a bar to break it loose.

6. You might need to use a steering wheel puller to remove the steering wheel. BUt I just pulled on it until it came off. Becareful not to hit yourself if you're gonna pull it off by hand.

7. When removed. Place audio and course control onto the new steering wheel, and place air bag onto it, to make sure the controls are lined up before tighting the screws.

8. After put the steering wheel back on. PUT IT ON STRAIGHT, since your wheel is straight, try to put the new steering wheel back on as straight as possible.

9. Now all you need to do is put that big nut back on and torque it so it's tight.

10. Put the air bag back on, with screws and connectors...and plug back the battery back in.

That's it....hope it helps ... good luck/.....

I did a swap for a wood/leather MDX wheel. It took about 30 minutes or so. I would suggest a steering wheel puller because the wheel it kinda hard to get off !! The instructions that 99CL gave should give you enough info to do the swap !

Im afraid it is without buying a new airbag. I was thinking that i could just make some horn button holes in the new wheel and mount the old horn buttons but the problem is the New steering wheels dont reach as far as the horn buttons. On the 98-99 cars the airbag covers where the horn buttons used to be as opposed to the actual steering ring with the horn buttons in it on the 97s. Its kind of hard to understand but basically if you look at the pic of the wood wheel posted you will see that the cruise controls are between the sides of the airbag where as on the 97 the cruise buttons are between part of the steering wheel ring so if you removed the 97 wheel and put the Wood wheel on you would have a gap where the horn buttons were. You could cut the horn buttons off the 97 wheel and put just them on and then the wood wheel but it would look weird with the extra chunk in there plus i wouldnt know how to securely mount it. If you have any ideas, let me know. I would love to have the wood/leather wheel but i dont want to buy a new bag
