wheel alignments

how often do you supposed to do it? with my previous cars, i rarely do it. maybe once every 2 year if that. I just lowered my car and i think the camber is wearing my tires down. so i really need to get that check out.

so should i go w/ the 1 time fees or get their "life-time" alignment package?

thanks

Depends on the price if there is not to big a difference it wont hurt to go with lifetime, but one ggod alignment should do you good for a year. Also consider the fact that the car is lowered and what your tendency to modify things are, you might want the lifetime package.

Most places that offer the lifetime deal won't give it to you if your car is lowered. I tried yesterday...I went to three different firestone places. They wouldn't even put it up on the rack for a one time alignment since it was lowered. I had to take it back to the tuner shop that put my springs/struts on.

jesus, are you serious? that's fucking retarded. Does lowering you're car fuck up the alignment more often, or easier?

well lowering the car messes up the alignment initially. then as things settle, it could gradually throw it off over time. if you lower it enough then you start having to deal with camber kits, and apparantly the grease monkeys at the firestone type shops can't handle that.

I think also that if you have your car lowered, that tips off the shop that you might be modding your car more in the future and you would probably be bringing your car in for free alignments a lot more than other drivers.

i called firestone the 1 time is like 55 and the lifetime is like 99. i don't want to spend the 99 right now, so i think i'll just take it to some local smaller shops this time.

thanks

but mine only have the prokit drop and i'm seeing some inner tire wear. do you think an alignment can fix a lil bit of the camber? or i really need a camber kit for my prokit drop?

there is no camber adj built in. so theres nothing you can do except install a camber kit or bend the control arm. btw i have prokits. if your on aftermarket shocks it drops the car more. especially kni yellows on the lower perch like me. i got bout 2.25" drop in the front.

i have prokit and tokico blue, maybe that's why? :-/ sucks, i don't have $$$ for a camber kit

the whole reason i'm use prokit is so that i won't need a camber kit. now it has just defeated the whole reasoning

I notice on post, that sometimes u don't and sometimes u do. If anything it looks more like the people that have it in the rear might have problems with the alignment.

my friend has his cl with sportline and konis and eibach camber kit on front. the camber kit is maxed out and he is still not within spec, but they were able to get toe and caster all within spec. It is a lot better than without the kit, but he is still not within book spec.

And whenever you lower your car, take it in for an alignment immediately, it greatly affects the handling. When i lowered my prelude, i waited a month till i got it aligned within specs. Well once it was aligned it handled like it should. The whole month that i went without an alignment it felt like it was on roller skates and mid-turn imperfections would throw the car off its line and cause it to hop out.

So get an alignment.
