What's wrong with radio?

I changed out my battery the other day. When I hooked the new battery up, my radio and cd player no longer worked. It had error message come up. something like cod1. as I tried to push the buttons to get it to work, the letters err3 came up. What's wrong with my radio? How do I get it back to working again without going to the dealer. It is a stock cd player by the way.

Unhook the battery again for a little while then when you reconncet it, the radio should say code. Just type in the antitheft code and its working again

You need the radio code. Do a search on here cause there are many ways to get it if you don't already have it in the manual somewhere.

If you have a 98 or up cl, you can get the radio code from a sticker placed on the outer left side of the glovebox. If you have a 97, call your dealer, you don't want to search all over the car for that sticker. You'll need your VIN, and possibly the serial number of your radio, which is printed on a stick on top of the radio itself.

I have a 98, not always the case, dealer sometimes want to charge u 90 bucks for the code. I had to take out my radio and look at the back for a serial number. I then got it from a friend that works at a dealership but he said lately, they been getting very strict on this and have to have a supervisor key in a code to access a database. It probably was people stealing them and looking up the codes, etc. But pain in the ass.

It depends on how crooked your dealership is. They can access it no problem if they want to, but they can easily get away with saying they have to remove your stereo to get the serial # for it, and thats what the 90 bucks is for. The removal and replacing of your stereo. So if you get your own serial number they can not charge you, and if they try, call up acura owners link and bitch to them, they will set ya up.

I just was at the Dealer, and oveheard someone ask the Parts Manager "how to get my radio working".

The Part dude told them to remove their radio, get the serial number, and get back to him.

I followed them outside, asked if I could look in their car, found the code on the bottom of their ashtray, and reprogrammed if for them.

There were an older Chinese couple who were grateful as could be!

Fucking Dealer SUCKS! :thumbsdn:

At least he told them to do it themselves and gave them the opportunity to run accross you. He could have just lied and told them it cost 90 bucks like they do to most people.
