whats wrong with my new brakes?

hey guys so i get a brake job on the passenegr side on the 3.0

the rotor, caliper, and pad was replaced, after about 2-3 thousand miles (1-2 months time,i drive alot) heres what happend:

the new brake started to scratch the top of the rotor ,then the middle ,then all areas of rotor. it became thin but still big and smooth enough to drive on if i stop this problem now.

NOTE: IT ONLY SCRATCHES WHEN IM TURNING!! so as long as i keep driving in a straight line im good lol

i doubt its a frozen calipher

thank you

how did you press you caliper pistons in when you did the brake job. maybe you damaged the piston. Maybe the pads are real shitty. You need to be a lil more descriptive.

it was my friend who did the job,he has a shop and used the press to remove rotor, and said that ''bolts in spindle'' are bad ,i dont know much about the brake system but the symptoms are as follows, when i turn steering wheel,my passenger side brake scratches the new rotor. the pads were new,i would seem like a brake alignment problem or the bolts are not up to torque?

im not sure,he said bring it back to me but im kinda broke so im trying to DIY my way out.

its a 97 3.0

^^^ I read it as he replaced his caliper. If that is the case, he wouldn't have had to press the piston back in. That being said, I still have no idea what hes talkn about.

the pads are scratching the rotor when i turn ,the rotor has become thinner as a result of this, with mild scratches.

thanks for any help you can provide mach

Is the squeeler hitting the rotor? The pad shouldn't "scratch" the rotor. It may leave really small grooves. I had a squeeling noise comming from the front right when i replaced my caliper, rotors and pads, but after a few thousand miles, it went away. It was only when i turned right also....

it did squeal for the first few thousand like yours did, which is common however it started scratching the rotor then,im not sure what is really scratching it.

i guess what am gonna have to do is open up the wheel and inspect the brakes, but heres my question:

what should i look for ? and how hard is taking caliper off and or pad for inspection?

thank you

VERY easy. Just one 14 mm bolt then rotate the caliper up. I need to do the same to mine, *if* the noise comes back.

the brakes will be easier than the starter...i promise. you may need a c clamp to push the piston back though.

you sure the guy tightened them properly. brakes screaching when you turn the wheel. brakes are one assembly. thats real odd. make sure he used the right quality parts. as far as spindle bolts? dont quite know what that is. kinda makes no sence.

Sounds like the caliper isn't mounted properly or the pads aren't in right

Yes that would be the next thing I'd check, the wheel bearing will cause sounds while turning

the bearing nut is pressed on the corner so it doesnt loosen. now if he touched it he left them loose.

sup guys,so heres an update:

i took off the calipher, the brake frame and the pads and heres what i concluded:

the brake frame(the piece that holds the pads in place) is hitting the rotor,

cause: the brake frame is too close to the rotor.

''TEMPORARY'' fix: adjust the brake frame so that the gap between it and the rotor is 50/50 between the front and the back...ok that didnt make sense. but all i did was remove everything and put them back....

i cant say for sure that all the noises in the brakes are gone BUT the major problem(where the frame hits the rotor when turning is GONE,as of now)

any input or explanation would be appreciated

thank you.
