my check engine light came on today and i don't know what it could be. i am thinkin maybe the tranny but it's seems fine i dunno. what do u 3.0 guys think it could be??

 

That is a very basic question there...Well let's see. Since you didn't describe anything wrong with your car, it could be anything under the hood that has gone wrong. Your best bet is to just take it in and have them check it out.

 

takew it in for a check up.... grab a loner and let the pros do their thing! If you have not noticed anything wrong, it could be a servicing neccessity or electrical glitche... bring it in!

 

The only thing i could think of, is the exahust. The reason is because a while back i got a letter from Acura saying that there's a problem with the exahust. And if the check engine light ever come on for me (with in 80,000 miles) I were to bring it in to be fixed. So it could be that. Not sure, but bring it in anywayz. I Bought my car used, So i guess they followed the Vin # huh...

 

My brother-in-law used to work the service area at the BMW, Mercedes, Volvo, & Land Rover dealership says that it's "usually" an emissions problem. But, that it also might be something as simple as putting gas in your car with the engine still running. My VW Jetta light came on and off for 2 years and they never found out what was causing it, maybe a bad sensor Good luck.

 

you prob need to have the oxygen sensor change but definetly take it to the dealer.

 

take it in, it might be caused to the problem with the pcv valve, there was a recall on those a few months back.

 

The muffler problem was only that it rusted and they'd give u a new one if u needed it.... and they extended the warrenty on the muffler til 150k.

 

Definitely take it in for a check at the dealer.

I will offer this: Leaving work on day, my check engine light came on, but the car ran fine! When the dealer read the diagnostic code, it turned out that the transmission had been "thrown" in park while the car was moving!

I wondered how the hell could this happen?????

I looked at my rear bumper and saw 2 large "cut" marks in the rear bumper guard. They looked exactly the size and height of the freakin van that I parallel-parked in font of. When I left, there was a small BMW behind me.

Conclusion; the van must have hit my rear bumper triggering the "check engine light". The dealer reset it, and everything has been fine.

I had the same light come on a like 120K and the problem was with the emissions. They fixed it unde the emissions warranty or whatever and it came back on and they ended up charging me to remove some sludge buildup

 

Hold on a second. Before u go to the dealer and leave the car, try the old gas cap. Happens quite often actually. Removing the cap and then replacing it until you hear it click a few times will sometimes do the trick. Do this with the car off by the way. if not that, i'd bet its the o2 sensors.

 

There are sooo many, hell tooom any lil things taht it could beand the onlyu way to be sure is either to check everything yourself or bring it in!!!!

 

well if it is the emissions you should just use that warranty packet that acura set you ( well at least they sent me one ) saying that if there is any probkems with the emissions that it will be fixed for free of charge including labor... i hope all you guys got those too!!!

I called acura sewrvice... the Cl has a recall out on ERG valves (gas valves)...
if your check engine light comes on.. 90% chance of it being that... its under warranty!!! go get it replaced..

FYI... if your light isnt on.. no need to replace it or worry about this recall....

 

Theres a way to tell what the check engine light is indicating.

Email me and I can fill you in on the instructions.

Basically you jumper out a female connector below the glovebox and the check engine light will flash the number of a code.

I've got the codes list in my service manual.
