Lets take it to an opposite side of the spectrum. ever thought of an 3gen m3?

http://motors.search.ebay.com/search...e=search&fgtp=

Only deal with bimmers is maintainance.

look into them if you are interested in euro material

Quote: ill say it again. 2001 lexus is300 5spd easily had for under 15k if you can find one. no 14 sec car, but fun to drive and faster then what you had.
'01s were all auto's. '02 was the first year of the 5-speed IS. (I almost had one before tha' CL.

havent found any m3's worthwhile in my pricerange, and absolute NO IS's below 17K. the eclipse im looking at is a white GT 5spd for 7K, it seems iight for my tastes. def needs drop/i/h/e though. would it be quicker than my 2.3 stock for stock?

Quote: you could get a brand new 2.5i legacy for about 18k right now. they are clearing them out! not as fast as a wrx but faster then your cl and much more luxurious then an impreza. but since some mentioned a impreza. you could easily get a newer wrx for 15k. again faster but not luxorious. i know you want a manual also. so a 2nd gen tl or 3rd gen tl is out. that leaves a used lexus is or an accord.
^ his car is very nice.

i saw it with my own eyes.

as far as luxurious goes... i dono...

that price range u cant get much luxurious if ur not willing to pay

just a heads up.....

make sure you check insurance rates. I was in the same boat as you a year ago and almost traded in the CL for an IS300, but then I learned that is the single most expensive car to insure.

for a little under 15k you should be able to pick up a 2001 2.8 liter quattro(AWD) or a 1.8 liter turbo Quattro

seriously, stay away from the eclipse, my cousin got one for his first car, the first 10 months they had it (bought at 40K miles) it spent over a month being repaired about 4 times, radiator failed, engine overheated, they replaced the engine, needed an ECU and a lot of other shit, on top of 3 random electrical problems before all that... plus its slow, it was an '01 auto GS and 0-60 was like 11 sec.

Come down to OK, We seem to get all the hopped up Texas CLs. They do weird shit to their cars down there. Good luck, how about a legend or I know.... Have you ever heard of a Sterling? I would love to find one. A Lotus / Honda compilation... All though, finding parts for it would be a real bitch... I can't beleive how long this thread is... wow.

If you get the eclipse put aside money for the supercharger or you'll be disappointed in its power. There isnt too much aftermarket for the Eclipse GT V6, my boy has one and has regreted buying it since he can't do too much to it.

I went over to club3g.com, and i saw plenty of aftermarket stuff for the GT V6. way more for that car than the 1st gens thats for sure. everything from i/h/e/p to cams gears etc...and cosmetically theres wayyy more choices than a 1st gen. i think its worth a look to see if it fits me, a test drive cant hurt
