What ur opinion on engine flush?

I took my car to a new place for a oil change. They look pretty good, i saw them check the whole car. The dude did try to sell me an engine flush and to change my power steering fluid. I said nah. I think it probably a pile of shit to charge me 50 bucks more for the engine flush. What you guys think? I got 87k on the engine.

I did one...i got to be right there with them, a lot of black shit came out....they like took roughly 2 hours doing everything. (had fuel filter replaced as well).....

but i did hear that engine flushes are bad from some people, and i heard the opposite from others....sooo itz pretty much up to you. But if it makes you feel any better...i heard it from some american car shop show that they are good to do.

I did a google, many people suggest going to blend syn/dino and then go to syn, and if u want go back to dino oil with an extra large filter to do an engine clean.

What is an engine flush? It sounds to me. I know of transmission flushes, radiator flushes, and brake sysyem flushs. But a engine flush? Your engine should never need any kind of flushing.

Thats wat i think pretty much just getting opinons on it. They basically change ur oil with new filter, put an a chemical in there along with the new oil. It suppose to break up the sludge and deposits inside the engine and most of it ends up in the oil filter and rest ends of coming out with the oil. Then they change the oil again. I read some horror stories online where they had lots of deposit and it didn't get it all out and later on broke off and clogged their engine etc etc.

i just did my own flush on my last oil change and it does clean out the areas of the motor that the oil gets stagnet / or pools i think ?? cuz that black shit is old burned and coagulated. i am not sure what it does for the performance of the motor but i would think that it should help ? look at it this way if you do it your self it is not expencive, and it can not hurt!!!

Stuff like this is one of the reasons it's good to change one's own oil.. Fast lube places in particular I think don't wait long enough to drain off the oil, to get all the sludge out. Older cars would have more engine sludge. If the sludge gets broken up, taken into the oil slurry and pumped through the engine to where the valves are, that could be a problem. That happened to me with my old car when I had a head gasket leak.

i wanted to touch on this.

how much does anyone think this should go for as well

as a engine cleanup (like 2 make the plastic shrouding

and the engine metals and everything else shine).

I know that it is possible for this 2 be a DIY project.

has anyone done this?

To clean off your engine just get some degreaser dilute it a little and pour it on your engine block. Make sure the engine is cold. Then scrub if needed and rinse off with water. Cover up the electrical stuff and be careful not to flood your spark plugs. It’s not going to hurt your engine. Your shit gets wet all the time i.e.: when it rains. As for the engine flush; I’ve done it myself with gunkout, but I wouldn't recommend doing it too much or if you use regular oil and you have a lot of miles. From what I understand gaskets absorb regular oil and using an engine flush product will strip that oil from them and cause them to dry out. The best thing to do on lower mile engines is to flush and then go to synthetic oil. It does not cause the same "build up" as dino oil.

I have performed a Kerosene flush in my Probe when it had 155K miles on it, and it only helped my engine performance and there was some black sludge inside the engine. I agree, it could only help you unless you have a serious leak - I say go get it done.

I did an engine flush on my 93 Legend Coupe before I put it up for sale, it ran so much better afterwards that when a guy came to test drive it, the car was already on and he didn't know it and tried to start it and it made that LOUD sound. Just giving an example of how much smoother the car ran afterwards. I used the engine flush that they sell at discount auto parts.
