What are some stock looking headunits besides nakamichi? I'm not too big a fan of the colorful stuff thats on the market normally.

alpine makes some pretty plain shit. i mean the decks r great but single colors. which are switchable from orange to blue to green, and so on.

 

eclipse

colors match perfectly, no stupid graphics or flashing lights or any of that crap.

I think there are new models out now but I know the 8053 and 8443 are decent decks.

 

Yeah i've always liked eclipse cause they are nice and simple but still look and sound great.

 

what is weird is that i want a big flashy headunit, but whenever i drive by a car and i see all the lights and shit on it it doesnt turn me on

 

i know eclipse is a good sounding unit, but they just look/feel cheap. u know, u can see the number filaments even though its not lit. the buttons feel like thier gonna fall off. kind of like the rampage audiovox shit.

I would say the complete opposite, I think they are much higher quality than anything other than Alpine and the top of the line clarions.

id go with alpine...
mine looks aftermarket, but not out of place, if you know what i mean. Plus the face is detachable if you are in the ghetto....

the lights on the alpines are green but not like bright neon color, almost liek our stock interior lighting, not to mention that they make the best headunits on the market.

 

im not saying thier accually low quality i know thier top shit, however im just sayin they "look cheap". and i accually just helped my friend pick one out 2 weeks ago.

 

I have had eclipse since the early 90's i ran one their first removeable (the entire deck) deck's in a van and the in my 1965 buick Electra for like 15 years, sounded better than any alpine i have ever had (and i have had them all).

Thats pretty nice, but I was looking for something reasonably priced so that I can power four speakers off of it...cause I'm sick of this shitty Bose.

 

the stock bose head is shitty? um.. that sux i was thinking of payin the dealer for the code... =/

 

get your self a new headunit and bypass the stock amp until you can get yourself some new speakers, then a new amp to power it all.
