What kind of car?

So i had that talk from the parents that it may be time to upgrade from the CL...long story short, this is my first car and ive wanted it since I was 9, so my parents bought one for me (in '04, one owner with 43k miles at the time) when I was 14. The car only has 111k miles and is honestly in perfect condition...im constantly cleaning it, making sure everythings perfect...however, a lot of money was thrown into maintaining it and replacing ridiculous things (transmission, etc.) So my dilema is, what car could possibly be a good replacement? I would like to stay with Acura...my mom got a 3G TL a few months ago and I like that car a lot, however, the fact that EVERYONE has one kind of throws me off since its harder to find CL's...I like the 01-03 CL's and TL's, however, I do not want to deal with the transmission issues...everyone on here has really good advice, so what is a good direction to go?

Since it sounds like you like the 2nd gen CL's, look for an '03 6 speed. They're a little harder to come by I guess, but then you wouldn't have to deal with the tranny issues and you'll have yourself a sweet car.

the Cl was my first standard car, only tried driving a couple civics before then.
but i bought the CL, it arrived on a train, and i had no choice but to learn from the time i picked it up from the train yard.
good time to learn when you have no other choice

but i agree with the other guys, 6-speed Cl is the way to go
good luck with your decision

Either TL or CL is cool, if you dont want to deal transmission issues, you should start trying to learn how to drive stick.

My brother has a 01 TL-P and I like the ride and its roomy compared the 1gen CL, havent driven a 2nd gen CL though. Either way good luck.

6 speed CL is a good choice, but hard as hell to find. Good luck, all else fails, look for a 6 speed accord, the newer ones are sick, and have lots of balls compared to the 2G CL

everyone is scared of a stick until they actually learn to drive them. There is really nothing to it and its second nature once you learn. It just takes a little more concentration that just sticking the car in gear and pushing the gas but definitely nothing hard about it. Just keep in the back of your mind everyone that has ever driven a stick has stalled one out so don't get excited and nervous when it happens to you, just crank it back up and try again. Even if you have to give it more gas to get it going until you get used to it that is fine also but you will learn quickly. I had to teach my son how to drive a stick a few months ago and he got all excited and wanted to quit when he would stall it out but I told him the same thing I am telling you and now he has a 92 Acura integra that is a 5 speed and he loves it

Learning stick is so easy, it just seems difficult. I also learned by necessity. I bought my 97 accord ex coupe with a 5 speed and burned out the clutch early, LOL! Then I got a centerforce and I was good. If you're that worried, rent a car for a day or two with optional insurance (50 bucks maybe) and beat the hell out of it until you get it down!
2nd gen 6 speed cl-s is my opinion. droolz.

Oh one more opinion.. if you have kept the car cherry, and the interior/exterior is nice with no major issues.... consider a j32a2 w/ 6 speed swap. You get all the power of the newer car, fewer miles on the engine (appx 30k from a swap debatable) and you get to keep your baby. Just thinkin outside the box. Good luck with your decision!

that does sound really good...i always liked the accord couples a lot especially the 98-02 V6 coupes...the newer ones arent bad and the new one is nice, but i dont know if the dad will go for all that...my mom is suggesting i take her TL so she can get something else...hmm...but im no doubt trying to hold onto the CL as long as i can. i mean come on you guys know nothing else looks like it haha

im would absolutely love to get another coupe...but i wouldnt mind a 4 door...i mean the CL is perfect for a lot of things...besides the things we've had to fix, the major pluses: i can see out perfectly at all directions, use regular gas and still haul ass...i might just take my moms TL over while she gets something but i dont know...my dad suggested the Solara and i said HELL NO

Sounds like your mom is going to get her way, which isn't bad because you'll be pimping a sweet TL. If you're somehow able to weasle your way into another coupe, check out the Nissan 350/370Z or the hyundai genesis coupes, which are pretty sweet, or an accord coupe like I mentioned, you can get nice manuals in all of those.

i was thinking about those too...i was also thinking about the infiniti g35...but around my area, there are a lot of 03-07 v6 Accord coupes for sale that arent too bad as far as price and mileage...its a difficult decision especially when im not the one paying for it :p

That's what I'm driving right now, just make sure if you get one get the manual. The autos on those are reeeally weak. Like was said before have a look at those Genesis coupes with the 2.0 turbo, they're pretty sweet and a lot of fun...the 8th gen Accord sounds good for you too.

a solara is a nice, reliable car (my family has had 2), but they are 100% for those missing Y chromosomes. the genesis coupe is a nice car, and God help hyundai is trying but i still wouldnt buy one. 350/370z's are cool. if i had to buy any car, right now, with a $20,000 budget, id buy a infiniti G35/37 coupe. theyre hot cars and they're quite quick. thats my

I know the older 350z's had a real bad problem with the rear ends. I had some buddies that had a few of them when they first came out and all but one of them had rear end problems, and I think he sold his before he could have any problems
