87 all the way. anything higher will just take longer to burn off and cause you to lose hp.

well i got lots of miles...on my 2.2 so i use premium ... i get more milage... i drive highways 38 miles to work 38 back... not counting going to school... so when i fill up (at the red E line) i reset my odo to 0 from 360+

the new MDX gets mid-grade... it rides the same and get the same milage than when i use premium

also check the manual on that lincoln i would say probably. I have a ford 429 that runs on 87, but its not the same engine so ... it would be good to check.

it has been dyno proven that running anything higher then 87 on a 3.0 will make you lose a good amount of power. It will also clog up your injectors, and cause buildup because the car is simply not setup to burn anything higher then 87.

Do a search, this has been discussed many times

Damn, I wish I could get 94 Octane! Most So. Cali. gas stations only have 91. My H22 has 11:1 compression, I cant run any less. I run octane boost 2-3 times a week. When I drive my car just out of state, (Arizona, Nevada) they got 105 octane. All the V8 boats out there use it. I'll fuckin fill right up with that stuff. My car loves it!

No, not v6, H22, it's a 4 banger. Most H22's are 10:1 or 10.5:1 I'm not sure but since mines type-R, It's 11:1. All type-R motors are 11:1.

Supposedly, if you take an engine apart thats run 87 octane all its life...Then look at one thats run nothing but 93, the difference is night and day. I'm all about making this car run without flawless. I hate fixing shit.

I use 87 usually from Exxon or Citgo. I found out why the cheapo gas station near me was so cheap, their regular was rated 85 instead of 87, my car didnt like it. Once I get new injectors and the turbo installed it'll be 91+ all the way.

87 octane. you car will run alot smoother. . . trust me. it's great. or you can believe the urban myth that the higher octane, the better. it really depends on your compression ratio.

i do have a question though. it might me stupid but at least i'd get an answer:
most of us run 87 because of our cars low compression ratio 8:8:1. but since most of us have e/h/i wouldn't that raise our compression ratio? turbo cars have to run high octane because of the forced induction; but with an intake we are taking more air in than stock, so wouldn't that raise our compression ratio signifcantly? shouldn't we use a higher octane may-be 89?

the stock ecu can accomadate and adapt to the additional air from an intake, but the FORCED amount of air under pressure from a turbo is WAY too much.

Used 93 oct. in my 98 3.0 for 6 months. Went to 87 oct. and couldn't believe how much better my car ran (on top of saving $$).

not true at all, oil would have a bigger effect on engine life ( I run synthetics only), not gas.

I read that somewhere...I think it might have been on here from a long long time ago.

I know our cars aren't turbo, but think about it this way...If it was, higher octane helps prevent detonation. So I figure it must just burn cleaner in general...Which would therefore be better for my car.

Anyways, it might not even make a difference with our cars. Any wanna go dyno test for us?

I use full synthetic too. :P

it's already been dynotested, car and driver did back to back dynos w/ 91, 89, 87 and gained 10 HP w/ 87 over 91

Our cars aren't setup to burn that high of octane fast enough so all it does is cause buildup

Hummm...Maybe thats why I'm running so damned rich. I puff out black smoke sometimes when I get on it.
