Wet Intake

I have a CAI , and recently the fender lining ripped off on the freeway somehow, so i've been running without one for quite a while, so the CAI is exposed to everything below the bumper line.

It just started raining today, first time since i've installed the intake, and alot of water is getting up there. is it enough water to suck up and ruin my engine though? i know the filter is starting to get damp...

when i installed my cai i threw that lining on half ass and ripped it to shreds when i drove like an ass to hear her bark. it's basically not there and i been in some MAJOR storms with no probs.drive slow in heavy rains(less splashing) and dont submerge the filter in a huge puddle(if you must go through, roll,no gas) and you should be fine.......

i almost shit a brick a couple of times.hydrolockage scares me too my motor is the only thing on my car with no probs............

just get a bypass valve, its from aem, and is for water, it prevents hydrolock

damn, thats bank http://www.aempower.com/ViewCategory.aspx?CategoryID=20

i'm not really worried about the car becoming submerged, the rainfall is never that much here. i'm just worried about the excess water driving in the rain kicks up... think thats enough water to require a bypass?

you should worry that constantly getting the filter wet and it staying damp might cause it to start rotting and it will just become become poo. wetting it can make it weaker and it could fall apart/ tear a hole open, specially if a rock or something hits it while its weakened by water.

then you lose some of the little gain you get...........

i wash my filter to so it get soaked(do a hard core dry job). after 3 washes i get a new filter..........

it won't do anything,.. unless it's submerged underwater for a long ass time,.. A friend of mine has a Teg and he was driving it in the rain,. he went through a huge ass puddle and you could hear the intake bogging,. no hydrolock no nothing...

I got stuck in a hurricane in Myrtle Beach, and drove through 2-3 foot lakes in the road at least. And had no problems, thought I was gonna hydrolock, but the bypass valve actually did it's job
