I've noticed that too. I was wondering when somebody was gonna say something.

Newbies, the search function is your friend, use it well. There's a lot of good stuff on the main forum page about transmissions, detailing, etc. Very knowledgable people in here. Welcome.

Yea thanks Jttoombs for the welcome. KC CL 1785 got me started in here a few days ago. I've already learned alot and its like ive found my new home. I will start using the search option. Thanks!

PS: in reply to the question about 3.0's....yes they all came in automatic until what?, the 3.2's in 2003?? Anyway, why did Acura do that!?!? Was it soooooo hard to make a 3.0 in stick or just add the HP of a 3.0 to a 2.2 for us!? Jeeze!
And another thing! I think Acura needs to start putting twin turbos on the CL's! The need to make a damn recall and say "yea were sorry for all theose american mustang peices of @*$% beating you...come in and we will hook up some turbos for you so u can go kick ass"

Acura3.0Cl I think integral was being sarcastic about the auto 3.0 question its one thats been asked a million times. I doubt me or my kids will ever live long enough to see Honda use a Turbo on anything bigger than 1.4 liters. Honda loves the idea of an all motor car that can whoop up on turbo cars and american v-8s. They stopped making the 2.3 and 3.0 in 99 To upgrade to the 3.2 and the 3.2 Type S. What you need to realize first is that Honda/Acura doesn't really care about you or your car and for that matter neither does the aftermarket industry. That is why this site is soooo valuable. If your Engine isnt a DOHC which it isnt then Honda doesnt consider your car a performance car. They may decide to give you some good hp and torque, but SOHC vtecs are made for mild performance and low emissions with high mileage. Theres a million reasons they put only an auto in the 3.0 and Im sure it had nothing to do with performance. IMO the Cl was the first Acura car ever to be made only in the US so it was probably because the designers were behind schedule and just put the car out as an auto because they ran out of time, and everyone was excited about the first US only Acura. The accord isnt the JDM match to our car like the Integra and RSX are, or the RL and legend are, or Tl and Saber are. The accords more of our ugly cousin

I think brakes are 98-2001 Accord and cam gears and headers are 94-97EX.

newbie here!!!

i'm sorta a newbie, my gf is the one with the 3.O CL.
i joined this site long time ago, so long... i forgot my old username and pw. not much was happening on cl forum and i was in the process of modding my car so i stopped going to the cl forum and spent more time on the max.org. i, myself drive an I-30. she's been wanting me to do something with her car. so i threw on some 18's rims, clears and intake. now she wants more! it's kinda hard doing two cars at once.

anyways, i'm planning to get comptech headers and exhaust. but having a hard time with the exhaust. i want one that will fit perfectly (no customizing). what kind of exhaust will fit? will i be looking for one that will fit a 97 AV6?

i've been doing lots of searching, hence my lack of posts. most questions are already answered.

thank you for the warm welcome.

Umm, I diavow any knowledge of knowing Acura3.0CL. Just kidding, naw he's a pretty cool kid, you know for him being a year younder than me and all. Just wish his car wasn't faster. Anyway, I kind of agree on the 5spd in a 3.0 that would have been awesome, or even the h22 in the 2.2.

Hello all,

I am another newbie to the CL's. Actually I own a heavily modded '97 Eclipse Turbo FWD and a slightly modified 2002 Galant GTZ. My brother actually owns the CL. '98 3.0 Premium in White to be exact. I found him the car and converted another die hard domestic to the dark side. What a nice 'lil bro I am huh?

Well he wants to mod it slightly, but he doesn't have the time to research things like I do. Plus I have far more aftermarket experience than he does, so that helps to know who to deal with and not to. I already spent a few hours last night using the search function and was happy to see this post with the link to the general 1G CL FAQs. Even after all that though I have a question....

My brother's birthday is coming up and I wanted to get him something for the car. He would love a strut tower brace, but in my search I see many people using the 94-97 Accord front and rear strut braces. Although it seems these are the same people with 2.2 and 2.3 CLs. Is it 100% confirmed that the 98+ Accord V6's strut tower braces will fit his '98 3.0CL? One last thing, I also noticed quite a few people saying there should be a brace there from the factory. I've looked in his engine bay briefly, but have no recollection of a strut tower brace there. Does anyone have a picture of the factory brace they can send me. Is it right on top or is it more towards the back of the motor? I can't believe I could possibly miss this.... Any brands that are better than another...best bang for the buck? Email is imgn-tht@attbi.com or just post here.

Thanks for any and all help!!
