Weird Noise....
Weird Noise....
Hey,
Gotta strange "rubbing" noise coming from my front wheel. I thought it was my tires rubbing the well but it isn't. It seems to be coming from the brake, however, it still makes noise when I am in forward motion. I'm baffled......suggestions????
Thanks

Our cars are equipped with what is called a "wear indicator". This is a strip of metal thats basic purpose is to make a scratching or rubbing noise when the brake pad has about 10% or less of life left. This is so that you basically get annoyed enough to go have it checked and to let you know that your brake pads need replacing. This is so that you don't let your pads wear to the point that it starts to damage your calipers or rotars. Go someplace to have your brake pads checked, most places will do it for free, and new pads are only like $100/pair installed.
Yeah, I thought of that. I checked them out last nite and they were fine. My old man said that it could be a bit of rust caught between the rotor and the pad. Does that make any sense??? It only makes the noise once per tire rotation, strange....I'm taking it to Acura on Sat
the same thing is happening to me:angry:
My dad thought it was the same thing has your dad thought. But it doesent make any sense since it also makes the noise when im accelerating (usually a couple of seconds after i shift to secon gear), but it only last for about a second or if I let go of the gas a bit. Does this sound like what your car does? let me know what the dealership says

Problem solved
Your not going to believe this. So I noticed the "noise" in question after having regular maintenance on my car. This weekend I jacked up the front, took off the tires, droped it into gear and let it go. There it was, that anoying little rubbing noise. So I decided to check all around the rotor, and to my surprise, the metal backing to the rotor was bent at the bottom and was jamming against the rotor. Dumb ass shop must have let the weight of the car rest on this metal backing. I wuz furious!!!! I phoned the shop and they told me that the person who was servicing my car was being trained and made a mistake. Anyway, they are replacing the damn thing for me. Last time I take it to one of those shops. !!! Thanks for your help n e way.
