Weight reduction advice needed

well guys, i just got done installing my front motor mount inserts an WOW.. This fucking simple mod makes a HUGE difference. My shifts are crisper, the car doesnt bog and the engine doest jerk inside the bay anymore. A MUST for you guys producing high horse/ nitrous applications. took me about 2 hours to install in the rain and once i got it in, i would never look back. The car just Goes, when i tell it to go. Your old front mount WILL be almost destroyed at 100 no matter how you drive. Mine was cracked and FUCKED UP BAD. ANYWAYS JUST wanted tolet you guys know NOW onto my question

Theres a track ( auto X ) and drag opening about 30 mile away from my apartment. I want to reduce some weight. my first question is, how much does the rear seat weigh. I already stripped my trunk of all carpet and what not. Im purchasing rear strut tower brace as well to keep my chassis stiff and the tires and suspension working 100 during hard turning ( front brace as well ) I guess im selling my rear seats if im taking them out. What else can i take out to reduce weight without COMPLETELY stripping my car down. ( IE: i want to keep my cd player and door panels Just strip it so its more of a 2 seater. Also, theres a very heavy weight in the front bumper i want to take out. Anyone done this ?

take out back seats, passenger seat and if you're really hardcore take out your drivers seat and sit on a milk crate...

i removed front and rear crossbeams. get lightweight wheels, they make a huge difference. cf hood/trunk (even though i know you just got a paint job). i know my comptech exhaust system weighs significantly less than my stock system. my UR underdrive pullies weigh a lot less.

poke around, you will find stuff to take out. but the above is the best solutions without hurting the inside of your car.

The bottom part of the back seat doesnt weigh much at all. The top portion weighs the most.

I also painted the whole trunk area gloss black ( after i prepped it for a while ) looks so so nice and very "track" like. Now i just have to wait for my rear strut brace, more money and my bronze circuit 8s ( 225/55/16 )

It's all in your mind. You should have timed it for a 1/4 mile before and after. You'll see little to no difference.

also, with the mount inserts and torque damper ( small cool piston looking thing ) you can "hear" the car. Shit is a little rougher but GREATLY HELPS shifting and acceleration ( you can Deffinently, without a doubt feel the improvement. Without all that shit in my car now, you basicaly hear the road too. But, i personaly love it. Presidential tints go in on thursday of next week so anyone that wants a peek of that shiny new bottle coming in.. Wont ( and its placed right were those seats were

I'm not even going to go into it.

All I am going to say is that you'll have a better time getting "noticeable" gains if you were to do motor work rather than fiddling with "petty" weight reduction.

i disagree with u guys that say that taking out seats and whatnot is not effective.

although i have no proof, you've gotta think, the lighter the car, the faster and more nimble

it is. common sense.

We're not arguing that it makes it lighter and faster. What we're saying is that the extent that it is lighter and faster is minimal at best. You shave off something like .1 of a second by taking off 100 lbs (correct me if I'm wrong experts). Hardly worth losing seats etc. The engine for these cars is made to pull a certain amount of weight at a certain rate of acceleration and speed, while reducing the amount of weight will make the engine strain less, it isn't going to make your car significantly faster or more nimble. Suspension mods etc will make it more nimble and engine mods will do much more to make the car faster.

I'm not sure how classy a car missing its back seats will look. But I'll reserve judgement for your pictures.

If you really want to be hard core. take out your blower motors, pass. air bag, all the carpet, center console, door sill paneling, rear interior completly out, a/c, p.s, abs, glove box, the rest of your interior all but the dash. and see how much the gains are i doubt they are much.

My friend just got stage 1 weight reduction done to his 99 lude, he printed stages 1-4 off hte internet then took it to a body shop and they stripped it down for him.

I stripped myold accord for one night at the races. Everything in the trunk, pass seat, rear seat. And i was running a 17.3 before and i ran a 16.9 after. So i mean it wasnt bad. But it was worth breaking the 17 sec barrier.

120 pounds out of a 3000 pound car isn't all that much (only about 4%). For it to be really worth while you're gonna need more power and you're gonna have to get rid of/swap some bigger items. i.e. hood, decklid, moonroof. I personally would make everything that I remove easily replaceable so I can have the ACURA luxury on the street and the performance on the track, but thats just me. I prefer having a nice ride when I'm driving down the road for some reason.

take it easy you guys, my cl is turning into a track machine, not keeping it a lux driver. I wanted that space for the nitrous im mounting in the middle and easy access to the rear strut tower brace and my new mounts to attach my harness too. Im selling all the seats and getting 2 recaro's so luxizury can kiss my ass goodbuy. She'll look nice on the outside, but when they try to peak through my presidentials they'll know i mean buisness. I guess that dude whos doing the j32 swap inspired me to build my car for the track. ill post pics in 10 minutes

ALSO the poly inserts : heres what i orderd from my order query

ENERGY SUSPENSION MOTOR e12-161108-G 1 15.00
MOUNT INSERT: ACCORD
94-97 ( 16-1108 G )
