Warning on OBX headers
A warning for my fellow CL-ers.
I installed an OBX stainless steel header on my 2.3CL about 18 months ago. I found it on ebay and got it for about $125 - a good deal for an SS header. Before I bid, I checked the OBX website to see if it was CARB legal. The website said the header was legal (in fact, it still says they're legal).
Yesterday I went in for a smog check and they told me that the header doesn't have the little tag with the CARB exemption # on it. They told me to get the exemption number or a copy of the certificate from OBX. I emailed OBX and got no reply. When they didn't reply, I found the CARB website and looked at the complete list of all products that are CARB exempt. Guess what? OBX's headers aren't CARB exempt!
Looks like I'll have to pull out my header this weekend and reinstall the exhaust manifold. Then I'm going to report those a$$holes to the enforcement unit at CARB - hopefully they'll get hit with a big fine.
If OBX ever replies, or if I get a response from CARB, I'll update this thread.

blah blah blah
just take it to a smog place you know. IT will pass the smog test, just not the visual part of it. If you're cool with that person they'll just over look it.

Even with the CARB tag, if they got really technical, they could fail your visual. If they look up the #, they will see it is for an Accord and not a CL. (being that everyone is using Accord part #'s for the header)
My DC's had the CARB stamp on them, but I got rid of the car before I had to get it smogged.
