Want to install Amp and Sub
Hey guys i had a question:
I was going to install an amp with my stock deck. Does the deck have a remote turn on wire? or do i need to find another source to tap into for remote turn on. and also if it does how do you get the center console off so i can get to the deck. I tried to get to the deck but i couldn't get the center console off...... Any help or advice about what you guys did on yer installs would be great! thanks!

to answer your questions:
1. the stock headunit does not have the RCA's that you need to send the signal to the amp, nor does it have the remote wire to turn the amp on. what you can do to remedy that problem is go to Best Buy and buy a set of line-out converters. all that does is it includes the RCA plugs and the turn on wire. all you have to do is hook it up to the factory wiring harness. i think they run for about $40. the only problem i have with this is that the sound quality is not as good as you would get from an aftermarket headunit that already comes with the RCA connectors.
2. to get the deck out, all you need to do is to take a small flat screwdriver and pry out the black molding that is around the factory headunit (also contains the clock and other controls).

Pry off the black housing around the stereo (CAREFULLY!) and they need to tap into the stock speaker line outs with a converter (the factory radio does not have RCA jacks) then run the rca's, ground, power, and remote back to the trunk... the subs will not sound as good as they could due to the fact that they are being run through a converter.... I ran my cables under the drivers door jam panel.... hope this helps some...
