VIN# under the hood

I bought a 98 CL basic last week. Can anybody tell me where is the VIN# etched under the hood? I tried to find it but could not locate it.

cheers!

You can see it through the front window bottom right (drivers side) corner. It's etched on a little gold strip.

original hood?

I can see it under the driver side window. But, I was wondering if the hood is original or not. Isn't VIN# etched under the hood on acuras?

here are some pics btw. I am thinking of getting a spoiler. what say?

i was under the impression that cloth was only available on the 97 2.2. but looking at the center console and steering wheel, it very clearly is not a 97 O.o

Usually the VIN# is on a plate on the dash, and possibly a plate riveted to the firewall. A common service new car dealers charge for, as part of an anti-theft or "safety" package is to have the VIN# etched on the glass and other area on the vehicle. That way if the car is stolen and stripped out, the parts can be traced back to the car they came from. Thieves see this and know it's harder to effectively fence the car, so it's less likely to get stolen.

Correct, it was in 99 when they added leather interior as standard.
Car looks good though and +1 on the spoiler
