ur pulley write up....

Ur pulley write up

The purpose of my doing this write up was not to reiterate what the ur instructions tell you, but to give tips/tricks to help this install go smoother as instructions don’t always give vehicle specific info…etc. so here it is…enjoy…hope this helps…I know it could have helped me….

Ps: I did not include pics in this due to the fact that all f this is fairly strait forward and pics would honestly not really be of any major assistance…

total labor time for me (not including dicking around looking for lost parts, eating, smoking, etc.) approximately 10 hours, had a buddy help for only 1 hour

1. jack up car and remove pass side wheel
2. put car on jack stand on pass side
3. remove front engine cover (easy)
4. remove pass side fan housing (3 screws, 2 upper, 2 lower also two power connections—they are very obvious on lower, one upper)
5. either remove or cut (as I did) the factory belts
6. you will need new belts to do this and the pamphlet that comes with your veh specific set will tell you which ones to get

alternator removal

1. remove alternator ground cable (from alternator, not body of car)
2. remove power connection to alternator (on top)
3. remove alternator mounting bolts (2 of them, very obvious)
4. remove alternator from ride
5. remove alternator pulley, I used an impact wrench….if not…your on your own to figure out how to get it off and get the new one on
6. installation is reverse of removal

power steering pulley removal
first I used a universal pulley holder to remove the old one, I suppose you could jam something in one of the holes to stop it from moving, but this is at your own risk.

1. remove oem pulley (2.3 is reverse threaded, 3.0 is not, 2.2 im not sure)
2. install new pulley (do not use a pulley holder or you will fuck up the new aluminum pulley, also to get the new one on you must remove the side engine mount (its right next to the pulley, very obvious), also do not install it back on yet as you will need to slide the new belt through this opening. To torque the new pulley I jammed the rubber end of a wrench in one of the holes….worked for me

crank pulley removal (the fun part)
ok, this is a biatch, and I don’t have an easy way to get it off w/out the use of a pit/lift, or a SUPER powerful impact wrench…I used a breaker bar with a hydraulic floor jack…
also you will need the “special” tool from Honda to remove the old one, I think it was like $50
1. remove pulley with method of your choice
2. install new pulley (ok, for those w/auto tranny I found no good method to do this and ur had no decent suggestions, so I just impacted it on…yes you are not supposed to do this, but I have no other ideas…so your partially on your own at this point…sorry

now for the belts

install power steering belt
1. loosen power steering mounting bolt (pm me for info on this one, my digi is dead)
2. loop belt around inner crank pulley groove and then around the power steering pulley (make sure the grooves on the pulleys line up w/the grooves on the belt)
3. tighten power steering mounting bolt back
4. adjust tightness of belt w/power steering adjustment (pm me for more info on this or read the manual)

install crank/airconditoner/alternator belt
this is fairly strait forward

1. loop belt around outer crank pulley, under auto tensioned, over a/c pulley.
2. then you need to move the auto tensioned (at this point a second person is needed/necessary) to move the auto tensioned I used 2 open ender wrenches (one on the auto tensioned bolt and another rigged onto the end of the other….then push like a mofo and loop belt around alternator pulley…walah….your done!!!! Now wasn’t that easy!!! lol

initial impressions:
hp gains seem to be decent, car redlines much quicker, does not seem to cause any problems with charging system etc....ur says that it takes 5-7 days for the full gains to be felt (computer to recognize mod) for the price i would say well worth it!
