Upgrade your rear Lights?

Hey guys .. has anyone upgraded their rare brake lights? .. I stopped into autoZone and I see those led rear brakin' light kits.

Has anyone upgraded them on this forum?

I'm thinking about doing a custom LED conversion (my friend was one of the first to make a DIY LED setup on 5th gen accord tails)...as I think our cars would look ridiculously hot with it. It's incredible we drive a car almost a decade old, yet the rears of our cars could still be considered very modern even by today's standards.

That's why I love our cars so much, not just the lines and front of the car, but def the back. I'm interested in doing a diy LED. I've been putting off getting another set of tails to hack up, cuz like I said I don't wanna jack up my rockblocker tint, but I don't really want to go through applying it again either

Yeah, you're not going to get the same output with just a single LED bulb (even with multiple LEDs). What I am planning on doing is opening up the tails and putting in a circuit board with LEDs mounted to it. This is how cars like the 3rd gen TLs do LED tails.

Yea I figured usin' just one Led light is not gonna do much. It would have to be a complete conversion.

I'm really excited to see what others come up with. If/when I do it, I will be sure to have step-by-step instructions and pictures. It can be a learning experience for all of us. :gheyhug:

you can get bulbs with like 15 - 20 individual LED's in them...I don't know if that is what you guys who are saying you tried it with "1 LED" used. Is it? Cause i was thinking of trying them.

Yea I agree, everyone always seems really surprised that the car is 10 years old

Let me know what you come up with. I'd like to get a second set of tails to do it on, but I think if I do enough measurement, testing, and photoshop, I can avoid it. I'm not even sure how to take out the tails or get them apart, so this should be interesting when I decide to start.

If anybody does this and does it in a mini-production for people - would you consider modifying 2G tales as well?

as far as getting them apart do the same thing as u would do for ur headlights. use this link for the lens removal https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=171826. as far as taking them out i beleve there are a couple bolts that u remove to get it out but im not 100% sure bout that. hopefully this helps u out DoubleSh0t.

i wonder if we could take the innards from the new tls and "fit" them in our lights meaning just the led setup, but i think ive herd someone say that the tls are wired for leds so theres no resistors in the tails, my friends mom has a 05 tl imma measure and check it out when i get a chance
