Twin canister muffler
What do you guys think of this muffler. I have a small hole in my 3A racing muffler right now and it is getting pretty loud. Ive liked the look of the dc sports twin canister system but they just dont sell the muffler. I found this one on a website and thought it looked decent. The descrition says its suppose to be quieter and I think it would look stock. What do you guys think?

Damn you dustbuster, I still can't find that muffler. Do you think that that muffler on a 2.2 with 2.5 inch piping would take away too much backpressure?

This muffler and piping was originally created for NOMAD's 2.2CL. I bought it from him shortly after he had it installed on his car.
You may want to send him a PM and ask him how it performed.
BTW: It's pretty loud! Very deep resonance! Everyone knows I'm coming up behind them!

It performed fine. I don't think we have 2.25" piping stock on the 2.2 but I could be wrong. I definitly got larger piping on the dual system, they had to use the flange from the factory system. Maybe it is 2.5, I can't remember now.
I definitly think that the dual canister system looks the best on our cars. I've seen a lot of different types and that one looks the best. Dual 3" pipes out the back, almost stock... but not. They are loud, too loud for my wife although I got used to it after a bit. Underpasses are fun with it!
Performance is the same as any other, loss of back pressure isn't going to affect performance, too large a pipe diameter will though, as the air will begin to swirl and eddy inside the pipe as it goes around bends. This creates high and low pressure zones within the pipe and is detrimental to smooth flow. For N/A 4 cyl engines you typically don't want to run more than 2.5". The smaller the pipe the faster/smoother the flow but the available volume of flow decreases as well. So the happy medium is 2.25 to 2.5".

For performance i doubt there's any difference. For sound the single-larger body of the muffler may promote a smoother or somewhat quieter sound than the twin canister where each canister has only a little sound deadening material.
Can't really tell though because I think having the two pipes creates a "resonating" effect due to two areas of sound pressure waves. I've heard some loud single-body duals. If you don't mind the sound as much you can always just try them out. You'll probably find a buyer if you want to get rid of it. I'm partial to the look of the twin canister on the CL, sets it apart from the rust-buckets with the crooked, clamped on dual DTM tip mufflers.
I can't wait till someone saws the twin cans apart and does a dual exhaust with them as that would look sweet!
Good Luck!

Sounds like an interesting project to tackle!
