True HID project update

Well got the AUDI hella ballasts yesterday with Osram D2S bulbs and tested them out. God DAMN! are they bad ass. one light lit my whole garage up! after they warm up they are pure white. I'm hoping the BMW projectors will give them a slight purple look to them for on comming traffic.

Update:
-$256 Audi Ballasts and Osram Bulbs (delivered and functional)
-$96 (so far) BMW projectors (current high bidder)
-black housings and custom HID installation (not completed)
-look on my face when its done

so it seems that for less than $400 I got a better setup than any kit.

PS. just got my insurance check so my koni yellows are finally on the way along with a hyperflex complete bushing set. I'll be droppin the car around thanks giving and i hope to have a prototype hid setup until i get my new headlight housings.

no you need to mod it a little and put in the projectors and make a housing for it right?

I really like the projector idea.

How much is involved in the conversion?

I have brand new headlight housings (due to my accident), and don't want to fuck them up!

But I would really like to install projectors!

most cars have 60-90mm projectors. all of which would fit inside our housing. cltyper gave me an idea to pick up projectors form an integra. they arent made for hid but it would be much better than hids in our stock housing, but i wanted the real deal. ebay is the way to go. so far i got the
ballastsa nd bulbs for $256
and the projectors for less than $150
so in the end i will prob spend around $500, but it will be superior to any kit

u can use any. just have to find some1 trying to sell them. bmw seem to be the most common to get, plus they one of the best. seems like hella oem ballasts are the easiest to get also and they tooo are one of the best. prob cuz audi, bmw, and couple other companies use hella.

Hey great job! It looks hella good..

I have the stock boring lights, and planning to put HIDs in them, but after seeing these pics. I want to have a thanksgiving project.

What is there I need to buy? perhaps a shopping list will be a great help, thanks.

u will need
1- the ballasts
2- the bulbs D2S
3- the projector
4- a relay so u can power the HIDs directly from batt, but have them turned on with ur headlamp switch

5- u will need time and patience to take apart the heahlight housing and modify them to fit the projector and make it look nice. also u must figure out how to aim them correctly.

that accord is not my car! thats just an idea from see fu 98 from superhonda. that was his first setup. now he has a business and you should see some the the work he did. check out the gallery!illusion lighting
he would like to get some 1st gen cls. basically he will hook up up with hella or panasonic ballasts, the bulbs, the projecor, and he will do the install just send your headlight housings all for around $600-700. which isnt bad considering a kit is about $400 and isnt anywhere near as good as a true projector setup becuase we have halogen housings not hid.
