Trans help
I have a 3.0 CL will 75,000 miles on it. My main concern is that I want my trans to last what should I do?? I don't drive hard but want to take more steps.... Out of all the 3.0 CL's how many tranny's have failed and at how many miles?

Here's a poll that I ran: http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/showt...ht=tranny+poll [Read my summary towards the end (my last post).]
I recommend a tranny cooler; NOW!

Tranny cooler, do your regular service on your tranny (tranny flush), and get a better radiator (fluidyne). Oh, and dont forget to change the filter in our trannies (at least i heard we had a tranny filter somewhere, could be wrong though). I use synthetic tranny fluids too.

not bad, i got mine for free the first 2 times...i used the mobil 1.....umm...last time i did it, it came out to 50 only because i do the flush myself, so i buy like 9 quarts of other crap to flush it out, and then use the good shit to leave in the car....
You know how to flush it out right...
Drain the old fluids out, put in the cheap stuff, run it through all gears for 5 min,
repeat process 2-3 more times (with the other quarts of cheap stuff), when you drain it, make sure it comes out red and good, then you know you did a good flush.
and then just put in the good stuff.

For $50 (9 bottles of Honda ATF) plus $40-$45 (tranny cooler), you can do everything yourself.
BTW: Personally, I would NOT use any tranny fluid besides Honda Z-1 ATF. However, Comptech recommends Redline when using their Supercharger. AMSOIL also had Honda's blessing: http://www.authorized-amsoil-dealer-...-code-atf.html

This is how I did the flush on my 3.0CL Auto:
I drain the fluid, pour in about 3+ quarts, put about 25-50 miles on the car, drain the fluid, put in 3+ more quarts, run anouther 25-50 miles, drain that fluid, then put in another 3+ quarts to top it off.
You may choose not to put as many miles between flushes, but just keep in mind that Honda tranny fluid contains detergents. Running this many miles helps clean out the tranny. This method should get about 90% or more of the old fluid out.
