tranny cooler...

one of my clients is owns a transmission shop in tacoma wa. he's been in business for more than 30 years. i asked him about putting a tranny cooler on my car because i've heard that it will help the life of my transmission. while he said he'd gladly take my money and install it for me, he also said that it would be a waste of money. He also said that all of the transmission problems/defects he has seen in acuras/hondas are not heat related and mostly have to do with faulty bearings. so a cooler would do no good.

In thermodynamics (i hate it, i'm taking it right now...), since the internal energy is the same - or has negligible loss, the higher the heat, the less work is done. That's why having a cool engine/tranny/compartment in general will improve the performance of the car... :twocent:

The tranny problems are mostly caused by bearings, but keeping your tranny cool also helps, and for $50 people have shown it prolong the life of their tranny, and don't pay someone to do it, it is a simple install
