listen no offense to the rx8 owners around here but they are not worth the bucks and they suck on gas and oil. One of my closest friends owns a very sexy looking rx8 and he puts about a quart of oil everyday. the brakes squeak all the time to the extent that u hear him down the block when hes braking. On top of all that it has no torque and it suck in pickup. I personally ripped my boy's rx8 apart all the time with my 6 spd cl s. i love my baby. i raced him so many times and got cars ahead of him that he gave up on my car and now he looks up to it.

Quart a day? Yea right dude...On the rx8 forum im on, 100% of the members in the DFW area(that i've met and spoken with about the subject) agree that (on average) every 1000-1500 miles, you need to add a quart.

I'd like to see you race your "boy" as soon as the road starts to turn. The CL is a boat, no matter what suspension is on it, it cant even slightly compete with the perfect 50/50 of the RX.

Im actually suprised that your MORE POWERFUL CL is faster than his RX8.

I think the story goes like this....Mazda isnt really in too much trouble about the power statement. The are in more trouble for ignoring satisfaction surveys for customers who own RX8's.

Sure theres people who love the rotary engine, and know it in and out who wouldnt really complain about the problems they were having with it. Think of all the people who didnt look into the engine and history before they bought it, the people who bought it for looks and equipment alone. Turns out, there were so many complaints of the engine not starting in cold weather, eating gas and oil, and anything else that was going wrong with it, it was hurting Mazda's overall reliability rating amung other things.

Well, Mazda did the smart thing and decided to hold a press conference and say "We can still take the satisfaction surveys from our clients, but they just wont count for anything." Unfortunatly the video of the conference was leaked, Mazda realized they were screwed and did a recall on EVERY SINGLE RX8 on the road to replace the engine.

I think thats how it went. IMO Mazda is on the uprise. All their new models are very good looking, have good power, and are loaded to the gills with accessories. I mean seriously, I never thought the day would come when I would say I would drive a Miata!

The RX-8 is a very sexy car and was in fact my first choice before finding the CL-S. However, their rotary engine is absolute shit and will most likely flood in cold weather. Also, I was VERY dissapointed at the EXTREMELY slow pickup during the test drive, which is what ultimately dettered me from getting it (aside from a ton of engine recalls). I don't quite see it as a "trade up" but I do love the design and the potential of the RX-8. Have fun

all relative as to what lacks tq; it's like crack, you never get enough anyway.
8 looks like a fun ride, and I doubt you'll spend more time feeding it oil/gas than you did primping/polishing the cl
best of luck with it & stay safe

that would be nice but the whole point of the rx's is to be a rotary powered sports car.

the rx8 is definitley a trade up.not used to the rear sliding out.
I was also actually suprised that your MORE POWERFUL CL is faster than a rx-8.

hopefully an intake will increase gas mpg and hp(somewhat)
oil burnin is normal for a rotary.an 06 burns little less.

oh and there are way to many females to bang cuz of the RX-8

so anyone ant to buy some HID's 9006 10k?

Quart a day!?!?!?! What a riot! Wow, rumors can really get out of hand.

My RX7 (and I believe all rotarys) naturally burn oil. It's the first thing you learn when you get one. Like you said, they burn around one quart every every 1000-1500 miles or so. No big deal. You "Almost" don't have to change the oil because it burns faster than it goes bad. You just keep adding, and the oil is always perfectly clear when you check it (at least in mine). The filter, on the other hand, HAS to be replaced every 3,000. My RX has 145,000 miles on it and have never had an oil related issue. Castrol GTX is all she gets.
