My dad did most of the work while I was at school, so no labor cost.

It's going to be cheaper than buying a new car like you were saying before. Like I said, it's not impossible, it just takes some time and patience. Give it a shot, maybe you'll learn something.

Well thats the thing my dad is fed up on putting so much money into this car. If he does buy another car. Ill talk him out of selling the Acura and ill buy it off of him once i rack up some do from my job. then i can mod the piss out of it. But i know he will get the new alternator though.

Welcome to owning a 10 year old car. It's just how it is. Our Acuras (besides the autotragic transmissions) are very reliable. You never hear of anything major engine-wise blowing. The only thing prone to go wrong are the starter, alternator, window regulators, and auto transmission (which, admittedly, is a big repair).

Have fun with an old Ford? If you buy a used car, prepare for more of the same, and probably worse reliability.

Why not do it yourself. It took me about 45 minutes total with common tools.

Honestly, for 9-10k and under 60 thousand miles on a 98 is not bad at all.. Most cars that are that old have twice if not 3 times as many miles on it. I have seen most 2002 accords that have well over 100k as well and they are still 10k.

I would not however buy an older BMW. You will have a hell of a lot more problems.

As far as a loan, you will not need a co-signer, but you will however (more than likely) some money down on it. I would say anywhere from 500-1k. Thats my though.

Well, whatever you do don't get the older BMW. I agree with SwervinCL, I had a 94 BMW 525I before my Acura. So many problems and not cheap to fix. Try to keep the CL it will be much more reliable than most other cars

thats what im going to try to do. If my dad wont let me buy the Cl off of him. IM going to look into a loan for a CLS-6. I guess go big or go home right? haha. I dont have any bills to pay so depending on the interest rate it may be a good idea. Plus they are sexy. haha

That $240 bill is a hell of a lot cheaper than a car payment.

Enough with the hahas.

Go to kbb.com, they'll give you 3 diff values for your cl.

If you keep your cl, be prepared to replace the alternator again. And again. I'm on my 3rd and I don't have a system. Oh, and the window regulators will go, too. And the tranny. But everything else will work just fine, which is more than I can say for BMWs, M-Bs, and Infinitis.
