I was pretty sure that people on this forum were taking their cars in to the 140's and I want to to know how the fuck you got that to happen, my car stopped accelerating on the the QEW this weekend at 122 in 4th gear. What the hell is that? How do I take the governor off.

im pretty shure those in the 140's are in 3.0's

 

so no 2.3's can go over 122?

reading old threads it looks like the 3.0 isnt limited at all, the 2.3/2.3 autos are limited in the 120s, but the manuals arent. ive only taken mine to 120 so i couldnt tell you for sure.

 

you need some more engine mods before you can go past 120.

with I/H/E on my car, i was able to get it past 140.... eventho it took a while. the potential is there, it just needs some helping along.

 

ive hit 140 in my 5spd 2.3

with i/h/e/p i can barely get to 130, but i really have no need to. im talkin straight highway no hills or bs like that

jes do a motor swap h22...and you`ll be able to hit 120 no problem

 

Not true, I hit 135 in the 2.2 CL when it was stock.

 

i pushed mine past 140, i wasnt looking, my buddy in my ride with me was watching he said it went riiiiight past it but it took us about a 5 mine stretch to do it....1998 3.0

 

from 80 - 110 is no problem but form like 115 - 140+ is kinda slow but it is a bit faster than a late 90's camarro, so yeah the 3.0s are fast and can hit 140 no prob.

I didn't feel real comfortable in my 98 3.0 at 135, so I backed off. Didn't sound like I was doing the motor any favors by doin' that either.

Had a loaned 2002 TL 3.2 at 143 and ran into traffic and it was still pulling. Aint no gov. on those that's for damn sure.

 

i went 140 going down to LA...

but then again.. the weather was good.. not too much wind.. and no traffic.. and a killer stretch of road..

try getting e/h and then front airdam and rear spoiler.. you'll definitely be able to go 140

My third goes close to 120 before i switch to D4. Your car is rev govered so it won't go to redline in the final gear...

 

I 2nd that! My girl hit 122mph when I was in the car and we even got some help with a little hill! I don't buy this 135 or especially 140 in the 2.2/2.3's! :shakehd:

With mods...MAYBE, but still doubt it! Stock, no way!

 

Wide speedo needles will do that! (+/- 5MPH)

I have GPSd 153 in my car. I have a picture around somewhere of it. My stupid friends WRX was pulling away real slow like but he was pullin away. Damn that car. All stock 97 3.0

GPSd is a GPS daemon that allows one to recall GPS data from a receiver. It's mainly used to collect positional data; however, with that I assume you could calculate speed.

I assume ShibbyDevil meant 153 mph?? I'm not sure, but if he/she did, then that's friggin fast.
