Top Mount setup

So I was checkin out the website of the guys that are fabracating my turbo manifold, and came across their projects page. Its on a D-series motor, but I keep trying to imagine it on an F-series .....

That setup would look sick as hell in the engine bay....

Supra, i dont think this set up would be anything different from the traditional mounted turbo. maybe just more room to fit in a bigger turbo in the future.

Cons:

- Highly doubt it's A/C compatible.
- May not be P/S compatible too.
- Most likely you wont be able to utilize a full radiator. You'll need to look into a 1/2 style radiator.
- May have to modify front motor mount.

Pros:

- Assuming it maximizes air flow = more power.
- Can utilize a larger d/p.

Thats what I'm assuming from my quick observation.

the lovefab sidewinder mani looks/is car/user-friendlier than the top mount mani.

- You have A/C and P/S clearance (A/C lines may have to be modified)
- Doesn't interfere with front motor mount or cross member.
- May be able to retain full sized radiator
- Flows well for a high HP setup

custom turbular manifolds go anywhere for 800$ (at the least) to 1500$. depending on the style, and the shop that makes them.

What company is fabricating your mani? Also, what trim t3/t4 did you pick up?

Straight Line Specialty out of Fargo, ND is makin the mani along with all the intercooler piping and downpipe. The setup on that D-series is for their civic drag car. Although I'd like to see a top mount setup on my CL, I don't think it would be practical for the intended use. I went with the T3/T04E 57 trim w/ .60a/r Compressor .63a/r Turbine for my setup. Its alittle large but I chose this one because my car is a daily driver and I wanted high efficiency, plus i will start spooling at 3500-3700rpm, low enough on our narrow powerband to matter.

goal is 250whp and 255-260 Torque .... then when it blows up get another F or go with an H and turbo that ... depending on how my income is at the time.

Is it a log style, or tubular manifold? Are you gonna try to keep your a/c and power steering too?

a nice, realistic goal that I am sure will be attainable !

all the best with your project ! (p.s. I say run your turbo near the front engine mount, lots of room on that side )

I want to get the tubular mani .... but I want to keep A/C and power stearing so when I bring it in to drop it off for the install they're going to decide if they can custom make the tubular mani to fit without losing A/C. If they can't then I guess I go with the log ... either that or say " f*ck A/C .... thats why I have windows! "

It's easy to say that now but when you jump in your car after it's been sitting in the sun all day, you'll be wishing you kept it. Let me know when they put that manifold together for you, I might be interested in one myself if it's a/c compatable and the price is right. There's only a handful of companies that make mani's for our fucked up port pattern and most of them have shitty wastegate locations.
