in the noob guide it says a TL shifter will fit in the CL but was wondering what years of TL shifter works, all of them? Also are the bolt holes in the same place and it fit in the shifter console just like the CL shifter does or does it require some modification? Thanks for all the help guys, you all have been great with all these stupid little questions I have asked so far. there are just a few little things on my car that I think could be better and thinking about swapping out some parts to make it look the way I want it to

3G 04-06 TL Six Speed Manual Knob fits perfect. No modification at all. Just put one in on my 1G CL.

 

yeah I saw his thread titled "relativity & dreams" where he said he was going to try to install one from a 94-98 2.5TL but never saw him say what had to be modded nor if he actually had gotten it done. From looking at pics of both shifters it looks like the mounting bolt holes are in the same location but not sure without having them in hand and not sure about the cable either. I know a guy that has one from a 2001 and it is the pictures I was talking about (it also has a 4 speed trans) and I can get it for about 35 bucks so i may get it and try it myself, I was just wondering since the Noob guide had it listed if anyone could tell me what was involved in the swap before I tore into it and had surprises I overlooked

What i can remember... I tried this awhile back... and there was no holes in the TL's knob..there threaded on...It can work if you made it to push up and down to release the saftey button and also youll have to make a hole in the knob..alot of work for noo big deal.

I am not referring to just the nob I am talking about the whole shifter from a TL and putting it into the CL

well I think you would actually have to change the transmission to actually have triptronic,I just like the shifter better and it would just work like the original without the push button on the side. I am sure the - and + will not work like it does with a triptronic transmission

 

 

I dont think the aesthetics of the TL shifter is worth the work to change it over.

so you want the different gate shift type shifter, correct?
