Tires Skipping On Launches!?!

OK, lately whenever I launch (my 2.3 5spd), my tires fucking bounce and it's hard to get traction. This happening to anyone else. I tried putting my front tires at like 25 psi instead of my normal driving 40psi. Could it have anything to do with needing a camber kit? My car is dropped 2.25 on 17's with 40 series tires. I need some steelies for racing!! But anyone know how to stop this shit for now. It seems like it's getting worse because right when I got the tires, they didn't hop like this. And don't say I launch too high or something cause that ain't it. help! thanks.

nah..... its normal. one of the many "joys" of trying to launch a fwd car.

the condition you are experiencing is called wheel hop.

what can you do to imrove it? get some really stiff springs in the back and some stiffer engine mounts. it is maninly caused by sudden weight transfer. it gets lots of weight off the front wheels, the engine begins to shake. the front wheels start skipping and bouncing because of less weight. you lose traction, it feels unpleasant at best, and kills yor 60ft times.

you could always weld your front suspension, so it doesnt have any bounce........ j/k

practice your launches above all. if you're gettig wheel hop, get off the gas and back on. staying floored will not help.

i launch at about 3200 on my 60ft and gently get off the clutch. less hop and less spin also. my 60's are in the 2.2 second range. some of the faster type-s (i've seen so far) guys are getting the same times, so i dont think im doing too bad for myself.

never run your tires on 25 psi you could blow out a side wall from the pressure and weight of the car. i have seen it happen, i use to work for big o tires and i would see about 2 or 3 a month that would get blown out due to low pressure. i would run about a 35 and it would help a little but 25 is not safe to run everyday

Yeah at 25 my damn tires look flat. I just tried it because a friend said i had too much air and that was the reason. it didn't help any so i filled them back to 38. 1gen cl, what size rim/tire do you have, and do you race with them or switch to steelies??

i run 22-26 psi at the dragstrip with my stock rims and 55 series tires. they work just fine and i switch them out, eventho the tire + rim combo weighs just as much as my 17's.

u can get polyurethane engine mount inserts from energy suspension for $20, also u can get some ttanny mounts from them, and if u want to get even more nuts get the full bushing kit for bout $85. havent decided if im going to install them or return them for something else. my auto does get have some wheel hop when i floor it and it switched into 2nd or 3rd. usually just in 2nd. i moved my car around tonight but theres no front end (bumper) fuckin "A" i spun my tires like a bitch. it was too easy! idk if its all the cold air gettin to my cai or the 40lb weight reduction. but god damn!
