Tired of halogens. I need real HID's

One of my PIAAS went out today. I'm tired of buying new bulbs every year so I'm gonna look into getting a real HID kit. Any ideas as to where I can get a good quality kit for a low price?

I would have said ebay until i bought mine off of gbc.com and had a faulty bulb. The company said it happens once in awhile and sent me a replacement the next day (before i even mailed the dead one back). If i had gone thru ebay i would have been screwed, just something to think about

well... there was that one guy selling two sets of stock oem HID kits from a 2001 CLS, both sets for $300.

does anyone know what it needs to be retrofitted to a first gen?

anyone try that yet?

i asked him if he would just sell one set to me for $150.
but he's interested in selling both at the same time.

not sure how he obtained two sets though.

Is there a kit out there that has a slight tint of blue or purple? I'm looking to pay about $550 max.

If you're looking to get an OEM beam pattern, this is the only way that I know you can achieve it.

Where can I get the Philips 6000K Ultinons for less than $500? From what I've seen, these look the best to me.

i would go for the philips if i had it to do over again. I would check out groupbuycenter.com and check the philips lighting forum for more info on hids. There is a ton of stuff on there but i dont remember the address. Just do a search on like metacrawler for philips lighting forum good luck

The 4500K kits give the best output. the higher ones might look "cool" but are not as effective...

All OEM cars are around the 4500K range... its just the reflectors, etc that change the light....

I might be able to get a group buy going if there is enough interest.

O yea.. these are CATZ units.

go w/ plasmaglow

I bought both hi and low beams on ebay. Make sure the manufacturer is plasmaglow cause they offer a 10year warranty on their bulbs.

I already had one go out. Even if they go out every year, I figure i'll pay $7 shipping for the bulbs and that's it.

Pretty good deal I think.

Quality HID kits should never have bulbs go out. HID bulbs should practically last forever. They aren't like halogen bulbs where you need to keep changing them...

yeah, i got my 7500K HID's with hella ballasts from ebay for 400 bucks. They are as blue as you could ever find them. And honestly, you dont have to worry if the product is defective, just send them back and get new ones.
