Tire Size question
ok, I am getting Potenza RE750s for my next set of tires. Finally wore out the shitty OEMS.
our stock size is 205/55-16
when i look up the tire at tirerack is recommends 205/45-16 for the CL
BUT the do make the 750 in a 205/55
SOOOO will i have any problems with 205/45, i doubt it since its just a lower profile, BUT how off will my speedo be if any?

speedo will be off and fender gap will be MUCH bigger..stick with the 55's even if you cant get potenza's. I had some Kumho's on my stockies for a while, it was a good tire, quiet, goot wet traction, etc and they were pretty cheap.

One of the best tires at Tire Rack is the Firestone Firehawk SZ50EP. It is a bit more expensive than other brands, but it is an awesome tire. Wet weather handling is very re-assuring, and the highway noise is the lowest of any tire I have ever seen in 30 years of driving!
The tire is being discontinued by Firestone (which is a disappointment) but can be had still at Tire Rack for now.

By the way, I looked carefully at fitments of wider tires in the 1997 2.2CL (with the stock Acura rims) we have and came to the conclusion that trying to fit anything wider than 205/55-16 would be a mistake. Some of the suspension components look awfully close to the tire ...

I just checked them out. I'm sure they are very similar to the potenzas since they are the same company. The potenzas have AMAZING stiff sidewalling.
Ive had the RE950s on my old lude and loved them, and now that im west coast i want the summer perf. version.
Firestone royally pissed me off several years ago, and i swore id never give them any of my money. Well, i guess im semi-hypocritical since i love bridgestone, but i just cant parade around the name firestone.

I used to run RE940's on my Q45 and liked them. But I had a serious problem with sidewall cracking - fortunately, I was not going too fast! The SZ50EP's are superior in every way. I understand that you may not want Firestones due to past experience, but do think about it. Look at the reviews at Tire Rack!
