Tire for first gen CL

please leave this thread up because I know theres a tires section... just want to get the most feedback.

I'm contemplating which tires to get for my RAYS gram lights 17''.

I love the fuck outta these rims and loved the tires that were on them before.

I used to have Goodyear Eagle F1's.

I want something similar, but not so expensive.

under 100 a tire would be nice.

I want a summer high performance lightweight tire.

Im looking at Nittos, Toyo Proxes, Bridgestones, Yokohamas.

Someone help me find something sticky, lightweight, and fresh.

I dont care if they are noisy.

215/45/17 is the size I'm lookin' at.

Also, if anyone has any suppliers that can get them for cheap that'd be nice.

I'm in NY.

My buddy has toyo proxes 4's on his jetta and they're sweet. If/when i get rims, that's probably what i'm getting on mine... they're a little more expensive, but they're worth it imo...

I would say Bridgestone or Yokohama out of those choices, I'm between those 2 and falkens

I don't think you're gonna get anything close to Goodyear F1s for less money. That's a very good summer tire, better being only Michelin Pilot Sport series.
go to TireRack.com, search for high performance tires, you should see some comparable brands and models.

I got my first set of Yokohamas and love them. Compared to my old Pirellis, the sidewalls are like stone.

i have the Toyo Proxes 4 too and they are a wicked tire. Great all around tire, quiet at cruise (unlike some others ie General UHP) and handle really well too. I have them in 205/55/ZR16.

Btw, i think they look really good too wicked tread pattern

id definetly +1 to the falkens.. the ZE 912's and 512's are pretty beastly. around 90$ a tire, so quiet and real good tread life.

That's what I was thinking, I have some Eagle RS-1's on my stock rims right now, I've been a fan of goodyear ever since I had my Trans Am, glad I don't have to pay $1200 for tires anymore though

yea, i got my yokohamas in the mail today.

can't wait to get em mounted and balanced.

i'm picking up a Canon 5D today also.

Letting the shooting begin mofo!

Falkens are much softer then the Goodyears from experience.

The inner sidewall on my Falkens wore away very rapidly.

Goodyears were solid for honestly 5 full years and about 60k.

I expect these yokohamas to last at least 30k.

I'm really pumped to get them mounted, I donno if I mentioned that.

I've noticed the same actually, I had falkens on the front and goodyears on the back and rotated them and switched, and actually had better grip with the goodyears up front, def think I'm getting the goodyears, I wish I could dump more and get some yoko's but I'm not gonna shell that much dough out for summer tires I drive a couple times a week tops

If you have rims get the Falken 512 they are made to also protect the rim from curb damage they are also more sportier

Those Falkens may be a good tire, but I wouldn't compare them to Eagle F1's or s. drives.

You're talkin to the king of rim baby.

^^ most high end performance and touring tires come with rim protectors. It is absolutely nothing special except just extra rubber right at the outter edge of the rim that creates an offset.
