timing marks for 3.0
On the crank pulley there are two marks. You might have to use brake cleaner on the pulley then you will see a white one and a red one. When you take it off you'll also notice the indented marks.
For the front cam sprocket, there is a mark on the outer edge of the pulley that lines up to the Number 1 on one of the spokes. The rear cam sprocket simply has one mark...on the outer edge of the pulley as the first one and where one of the spokes has a line.
Hopefully this helps. I finished my timing belt this past weekend and it wasn't any joke. I was too busy working I just couldn't find time to take pictures...sorry folks. It took me a total of 8 hours so have fun and good luck.
And the best way to get the crank pulley off is as someone before mentioned (cocoa I believe) use a long breaker bar and have it leveraged with the ground then remove the igniton wire to the distributer cap, and give the car a slight crank. The starter will do the work. Works like a charm. I've gone at it with a strap wrench and it wouldn't even budge. Even with the special tool you would have problems as the bolt is bolted right into the crankshaft at who knows how many pounds of torque, and with a 100,000+ miles it's seized in there.
Anyhow let me know if you need any other help.
