Timing Chain Replacement
Timing Chain Replacement
How often does the timing chain need to be replaced, or service need to be done on the car? I have a 99 2.3CL, and it has 111K on it, and the guy who I bought the car off of said he has never done the service on the car. Its going to cost me $291.00. How often on a tune up as well?
Timing chains are supposed last the lifetime of the vehicle...Timing belt would need to be changed at 60K dealer recommended, but usually at 90K(that's when I did mine, along with balance belt, water pump, valve cover gasket, crank seal, balance shaft seal, cam seal, tensioners, and drive belts- pwr. steering and AC). hope this helped you out
u have a belt... well actually 2 belts. one balance shaft belt, and a timing belt. im pretty sure they are due at 105k for cl's. make sure u have them change both, cause if the balance shaft belt breaks it will get tangled in the timing belt and break it, which means new motor... also have them change the crank seal and water pump. while they are in there.
